There's at least one human still awake and enjoying the snow vicariously through you guys. Nothing nicer than fresh snow, especially at night under a streetlight. Don't see much in Dallas but I lived in Queens through October '86 and enjoyed many a blizzard.
Well I dunno about anyone else but I came to get stuff at parents last night and stayed here in Northvale. We got a lot of accumulation and its still coming. I can't get back down to Florham Park for work. Lol.
Just shoveled 4 inches off of the driveway in Waterford CT. We've got another 1 to 2 inches expected by 1:30 PM or so. I'd move to Florida but for the fact that shoveling snow is a lot easier than pumping sea level rise off the lawn. Every storm up here for the last several years has come with a coastal flooding alert. I-95 got cut in two south of Providence a couple of years ago.
Carl,,,,,,,I grew up in Brooklyn ,,,,,one thing I used to love and we did it for years was that we would walk a few blocks to the Jewish deli that always seemed to be open and whenever it snowed no matter how late it got we would walk there to get hot dogs, or brisket and we would walk in the street as there were hardly any cars on the road. The silence was unreal especially since the deli was under the " L " as in train tracks and there were no trains running,,,those were the days we did that for years ! Then we also would manage to go to marine park ( how we drove there in the snow was another story ) to play tackle without any equipment,,,,,,,,the old neighborhood is still there but the deli along with most of the people we knew are gone,,,,,,,on another note I need to go out and snowblow my driveway as the kids are home and they want to go tubing ,,,,be safe and enjoy all,,,,,,,,hey Jay you awake yet or what ? Put the clients on hold until Monday and meet us down at the high school at noon,,,I have a tube with your name on it,,,ps dress warm.
Its no exaggeration here. We have over a foot and were forecasted (by our local guys) to have 3-5 inches.
Yeah effing weather channel says 1 to 2. There's 8 inches on the table on my deck, and I did the driveway a half hour ago, and there's already a fresh half inch, and it shows no sign of letting up.
Jay, I know you're in Wayne but I've got 8 in Livingston, and it's still coming down like a bastard. Ii did the driveway while the kids got taken to school at 10, and there's a fresh inch already. Of course the school went for delay instead of closure. Effing unions want to get credit for the day. God forbid they should go an extra day in June.
Murrell..the problem with the local guys is that they cried wolf and got burnt by the models with the first half...and even though for 5 days now the models have been screaming that the back end snow would be the big part of the storm...they wouldnt buy it. If I was getting paid to do this...I might not either...but the models really did have this right after all..well most of them. The big problem with this storm is that overall precip was almost dead on for many. Its just most people thought the front end..like 99% of storms..would cause the damage. But the models were screaming back end. Last night when we saw the radar start filling in and it was starring them in the face...they still didnt bite. I kind of get it...but it was happening right in front of their face. Parts of Conn will get their 20...many parts of Mass WILL get their foot plus..and parts of nj will range from 3-10 depending. The good news is if you look at the radar finally the storm is just getting the life sucked out of it...and most south off western Conn will be over in the next 2 hours...starting with west jersey..then north...east jersey and souhern ny. It will end fast.
