@MMehtaNYDN Jets are among four teams that have expressed interest/inquired about Charles Woodson thus far, per @JosinaAnderson. #nyj
At this point in his career I'd see him going to a contender. But yeah I'd happily take him for the short term. He can help groom our safety picks from last year and anyone else who we may draft this year. Although if Pat Chung is in fact cut he may be a longer term solution for affordable money since he's only 25.
If he wasn't 36 I'd be terrified of him pulling a Rodney Harrison/Rod Woodson routine and winding up in the middle of the Pat's defense for 3 years. I think he's a bit long in the tooth for that at this point.
If we cannot bring back Landry, which we should desperately try to do, I would be okay with this signing.
my guess is it's a backup plan if we lose out on Landry. I don't want him. he can still play buthe's always getting hurt.
Why dont the Jets ever express intrest in any free agent offensive players , we dont need to focus on defense thats where the focus has been the last 4 seasons. How bout looking at some WR's not named Braylon Edwards
Because as of right now we have more holes on defense than offense. We do not have a starting safety or OLB on the roster.
How much do expect him to want? Maybe 3-4 mil a year? At that rate, you might as well try your best to sign Landry for the extra 2-3 mil.
No way. He's past his prime and is going to want more $$ than we can afford to give. Go young through the draft and via FA with young vets.
no no no no no no no no NO NO NO As someone who watches every Packer game...NO. Even in the year he "won dpoty" he was not that amazing. Sure he made a lot of ESPN top plays highlights, but they didn't show him being burnt on a weekly basis either. And it's been a few years since then, and let me tell you, he has not improved at actually covering players. He's old, a leader? Sure...but old, and extremely overrated.
