Well if moderat is 8-12 cman...yep. I really believe you can get those numbers. American model not only holds serve but goes a bit more north. Now if the Euro at 1pm goes north...we can lock a few things up.
Expect winter storm watches to be issued at 4pm today for areas west of NYC. The potential here is huge. A major wet snow storm for many but even worse...very strong winds to go along with it. May have a power outage problem where the snow line sets up.
Yeah brook..think that will be a problem..fresh off the press from the NWS: DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY. FORECAST UNCERTAINTY SURROUNDS THE EXACT DEALS OF HOW THIS STORM WILL EVOLVE...BUT THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR: * SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW. * WIND GUSTS OF 50 TO 60 MPH. * MINOR TO MODERATE COASTAL FLOODING. * HIGH SURF AND SIGNIFICANT BEACH EROSION ALONG THE OCEAN FACING BEACHES AND TWIN FORKS OF LONG ISLAND. THESE IMPACTS ARE POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY. While it says a couple inches..thats their minimum to the threat. I have to say...we will not have a handle on snow or rain totals until at least tonite. By tonite, I will try to break it down.
Oh..and the Euro came north again. Now as I mentioned, you never see a model just jump to agree with another. What you see are trends...and while the GFS trended even further north...the Euro has now had 2 runs in a row where its backing off and coming north. Not nearly as north as the GFS..but trends..trends...trends....
One last thing before I run until tonight, my guess is the major media outlets will start to pick up on this during the evening..with a lot of "depends on the track". This is a major storm.
FINALLY! A big assed Snowstorm. YAY! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow..... Edit.. Locals just up the amount to 6"+ and WSW has been issued for York PA down to the VA line.
Just fired up the Snowblower. Ran smooth for 15mins. BigA is ready! Bring on the Snow cause, I'm packin !!
Let me tell you something...if the GFS model that just finished comes true..even NYC gets full blown out blizzard from this. CBG gets a nice snow storm..brook gets a bit more..I get hammered being east...Jonnny is a close call...and anyone around 95 gets a blizzard from philly to nyc. Oh and cman gets hit pretty hard too..but right now this storm is from the va/md to the border of pa and then a straight line from philly to boston..and near blizzard conditions. Is this a prediction? No..its a model run...but I have been saying all week that you can not really suppress a storm on March. You can in January. And when the models scream suppression, you have to say maybe you have a March snowstorm because the cold air is in place albeit borderline. When a storm this strong comes along, it creates its own cold air..so those north of the L or the center of the low get hammered. Too busy to read all the details but will do in about hour.
Jay,,,,I anxiously await your updates,,,,,ps 1010 wins said a few minutes ago. " a few slushy inches " ,,,,,,let me know if I need gas for the generator .
Actually the latest GFS model put Rockland County on the map for 8-12..again..need to see the 1030 tonite and then the Euro at 1am before going out on a limb but right now? You will see Winter Storm warnings for many starting tomorrow afternoon...the latest...some will even get blizzard warnings.
oh..and lol at 1010 WINS...They also carried Bloombergs press conference before Sandy when he said "this storm is nothing to get worked up for".
Jay ,,,,,,,,Lonnie Quinn just said 5 to 10,,,,,,lee Goldberg said early estimates 48 hrs out 2 -5,,,,,?,,who needs all these other guys when we here have " the real thing " ? Keep em coming Jay
lol...well at least lonnie quinn is on board..he was claiming slush last night right? MURRELL: Easter Conn could get a very heavy snow storm but temps are the problem. Where does the rain snow line setup there. Again..here we go...there are going to be busts because of that damn rain snow line. Lets say central L.I. is forecasted to get over 2" of liquid precip..so thats over 20" of snow..or is it half rain? then 10..or is it mostly all rain? then 3. Going to be a tough call but if memory serves me, you are not right on the coast right? 50 miles inland and this SHOULD be all snow. Will have a better idea later tonight bud.
