So get rid of one of the fastest and best receiving TE's in football cause you have a hard on for Cumberland?

We obviously missed Keller last season.

Keller is one of the best receiving TE's in football? Since when?

Are we watching the same Keller? We'll find out if the rest of the league agrees with you when he starts shopping around in FA.

I want Revis and Landry to stay. Keller, no.

That lineup of Devito, Coples, and Wilkerson was effective but it wasn't used often.

I'd keep Keller - he never was the contract malcontent that Revis always was. If he's willing to take some more discount, I would be hard-pressed to not keep him. (My reasons are in other posts - you should be able to see why I have a strong conviction in this case.)
Also, Landry's request seems sensible. 6M/yr is a tad bit expensive, but if Jets draft a safety and start him, 6M can be taken care of.

Revis, not so much. 10M is way too much already. 16M? He can find that somewhere else - just not here.

Wow!!! how blind are TGG members.

I sure as hell missed Keller catching an 8 yard pass and then spinning and using his speed to get another 10 yards.

And as much as Sanchez sucked last season a lot of that was cause Keller was hurt, the same Keller who was Sanchez's #1 receiver in 09,10 and 11.

What does that mean though? I'm confident that Kerley would be getting serious Pro Bowl consideration if he was a favored target for Brady or Peyton. Hill would look a lot more developed as a rookie if he had Brady or Peyton throwing him the ball also. On the Pats, Holmes would be a legit #1 WR also.

You're listing elite QB who make everyone better. Nearly ever player in the league is better when they have Brady, Peyton, Rivers, Brees on their side.

You also missed Keller's concentration lapses as the ball hits his helmet. You've also missed Keller's usual pattern of disappearing for games. Keller is a 1-dimensional TE who isn't dominant in that one dimension.

Look, I'm in favor of bringing Keller back so obviously I think the positives outweigh the minuses. Search my post history, I've put up multiple posts that I'd like Jets to extend an offer about 3M. At the same time, I'm recognizing him for what he is. Unlike yourself who has him in some elite category.

Do you consider Keller a top 5 TE?

I would love to have all 3 of them back, Landry n Revis are both pro bowlers,Keller could be a pro bowler with the right QB. And beyond that 2 of them are homegrown talent. It will be a hard thing to do to keep all 3 so i say only 2 of them will be back.

Keller is a slightly above average receiving tight end and slightly below average blocking TE making him an average player. I'd bring him back for average player money.

i think some of the criticism of Woody being unwilling to spend money is a bit on the short sided side looking at some of the contracts given in last 10 years including a host of guaranteed cash. Has he been given value for money...absolutely not but when asked he has ponied up. What I would question is getting ourselves into such a position of weakness with 2 out of the 3 players mentioned

Re Landry , we should have learnt our lesson from the one year rentalsof Holmes , Cro etc that eventually you end upover paying if they do perform on the 12month rental. Whilst Landry came with strong injury issues we should have a negotiated a 3 yr deal with protection but also bonuses for workouts etc in 2013 thus giving Landry an incentive to sign a longer deal

On Revis this deal should have been negotiated last season when he had 2 years remaining , it would have been a more simplistic extension with more guaranteed monies ...flip side would have been if he refused the offer we at least had a longer window to trade /eventually work a deal. Clealry his injury affected the issues majorily but again we worked ourselves into this position

On Keller...I really dont see the love tbh...he is not agressive at the line of scrimmage and struggles to get off chip blocks ...he is an above average player but I can see him wanting $4m + per year...he isn't worth that in my view...again I think this is a scenario the Jets did see and if they can get him for home discounts they will do a deal...

If we can get a better TE I'm all for it, but there isn't one available.

I'm good with Keller, Holmes, Kerley, Hill and or Edwards/FA as our pass catchers, it's the QB, RB and RT I'm worried about on offense.

You say one of the best receiving TE's. When I hear someone say "one of the best", I think top 5. I don't think he's even a top 10 receiving TE.

top 5 receiving TE's in no particular order
    Gonzalez
    Gates
    Davis
    Graham
    Gronk

    next 5
    witten
    clark
    finley
    daniels
    hernandez

Yep. Give him to a great QB and he'd look pretty good for a few years. He's not 6'4" 265 though. He's just not that guy.

I would consider Finley overrated, he has Aaron Rodgers and he still drops a crap-ton of passes and he has an awful attitude - I think Jermaine Gresham is better than both Keller and Finley

I'm with you that Keller is no where near a top 10 TE receiver, but I'm just nitpicking here.

I had high hopes for Keller when Favre was throwing him the football.

There are a handful of guys you could put after the top 10 that I'd also consider better than Keller, but the point remains - no where near a top 5 or "one of the best" receiving TE's.
