Yeah, he was pretty happy about the loss. Everybody says how great a coach he is yet he has a top 5 recruiting class year in and year out. I'd love to see the guy without any talent for just one year because he got absolutely embarrased last night. Virginia time and time again ran the same play and Duke acted like they had no idea it was coming. Funny thing is whne they were down late in the 4th Duke ran the same play over and over and at some point Virginia at least slowed down them going into the upper right corner, Curry rolling off and jacking up a 3. It still sickens me that Duke got Curry... makes you wonder exactly what happened there.... did K tell him play at a small school as a freshman because right now we don't have a scholarship for you?
Virginia almost blew it in the final few minutes by being stupid. Up double digits with under 4 to play, they kept pushing it. Well that's a major component of being a top college coach. Calipari may not be the greatest in game coach either but he's an elite recruiter.
Deangelo Harrison suspended the rest of the season. You can see on the court he's been a real problem lately. I'm sure we won't see him in a Red Storm uni next season. .................. Lav said Harrison wants to come back next season. SJU is going to be really good next year, hope he's back.
I should have clarified... his X's and O's are terrible. It wasn't always that way with him because early on I think he was tremendous with it. I thik in his case he just got lazy because of all the top flight talent he brings in. If he coached the way he was back in the mid to late 80's with the talent he brought in every year they would be a final 4 team on a yearly basis as opposed to the perenial underachiever they seem to be most years.

I remember watching saying to myself I can't believe how many security guards they had on the floor. I thought it was pretty mild compared to most court rushings. K was pretty surly the entire night, guess he didn't like his team of McDonald's AAs being beaten by backdoor cuts and some kid from the state of Washington. Our game vs Duke is pretty good...Back and forth we go the shots... Ryan Kelly is single handedly keeping them in the damn game...
Duke up 2, 50 seconds left, Plumlee has the ball, Vitale is screaming for Miami to foul him. :rofl: Does he know about this thing called the shot clock? Miami smartly does not foul, and Plumlee turns it over.
After losing to Miami by 27 in the first matchup (and they were out of it from the get go), Duke beats Miami behind Ryan Kelly's 36 points and 7 rebounds. Apparently he does make a difference.
Whenever they lose there is always some form of deflection to take away from the loss. Whether they float out the stuff through the media like emotional fatigue or playing 3 games in 7 days(they incorrectly stated 6 days) or whether it's him calling Gerald H4ernderson the real victim or the nonsense like the other night. this is why he and the duke program are despised by so many. They think it's b/c they win, it's b/c of the way they act when they win and when they lose. The best game of his life and they still barely won at home against a Miami team that had been struggling in recent weeks. That's a bad sign for duke and of course K plays Kelly 32 mins in his first game back in months. This is why his teams always fade late, he wears them out. plumlee and Curry look shot, it took BY FAR the greatest performance of Kelly's career(mostly shooting wide open 3's) to eek out a W at home. Not good. As for the Heels, they are usually the opposite of duke. Where duke peaks in Dec/Jan the Heels usually peak in March/April and they are getting better and better every game. They are a lock for the Tourney now even if they lost their last 3 games(2 reg season, ACCT), they are playing for a seed and could get a decent one.
The best is him criticizing fans of other schools for taunting yet he had no problem with the Duke fans harrassing Juan Dixon about his parents dying from HIV or yelling "how's your grandma" to the NC State kid who's grandma had just passed away. Where was K the moral savior of college basketball at that time? Oh yeah... Duke was winning so you didn't hear anything from him. He's an arrogant jackass who happens to be a very good basketball coach. Is he an all time great? Sure but the fact that all of a sudden the ACC is going to look into court storming because he has a problem with it pisses me off. Roy Williams was an absolute class act when we beat you guys last year in Vegas. K should take some lessons on how to lose with dignity.
The main reason there are so many issues w/ crowds at CBB games now is b/c of the Cameron Crazies. Other fans have tried to emulate them through the years(don't ask me why?) and the bahvior has gotten worse and worse. I can't stand the hypocrisy w/ that man and his program. Roy has his moments too, he's done some dumb things but K consistently is doing dumb things and always gets a pass.
Flat out truth: Short of winning the Big East tournament, Villanova doess not deserve to be in the NCAA Tournament this year.
