The 12mm is a sunk cost. Any jet coach or FO person who considers that in the decision to play Sanchez or not should be fired.

Well at least with Garrard you know that it is only a one year thing and that they must have some vision for the future at the QB position.

If you keep Garrard as the backup, it could be a multi year proposition.

Im talking about Garrard as the starting QB, which I think he has a shot to win.

    No shot.

I don't believe it's an even competition going in.

He's the thumbtack on the chair.

garrard definitely has a shot at winning the starting job, i dont think he will be hes got a shot. and even if he does he can still stay on, battle next year and be a back up if he loses to whomever else we bring in.

i think garrard would be a good choice for that veteran back up that we can rely on if he doesnt win the starting job right out.

Statistically he was much better than Sanchez in his last few years that he started. He hasn't played since 2010 though...

If he's healthy, he's a better player than Sanchez. He's proved nothing to me in the last two years to make believe otherwise.

    WOW...I cant believe I agee with you:lol:

Like I said in the other thread...I believe the Jets have too much invested in Sanchez to even think about compition!

The fall out if one of the back-up/scrubs beating out Sanchez would be over the top...plus if that person lost a game the locals would be bring out the pitch forks!

I believe Rex's job depends on it...and this was a factor in hiring your new GM.

Uh...what? From looking at this and two other jets sites, it seems as though a good 97% of the fanbase can not stomach the thought of Sanchez starting another game. The those who can stomach it aren't exactly convinced that he's going to light the world on fire.

There's going to be no fallout if a back up lost a game. There WILL be a fallout if there is no competition and Sanchez proceeds to fuck shit up.

As for Rex, he's not going to get fired unless we completely implode and go 2-14. We had one of the worst offenses in the NFL this year, and still managed to get 6 wins and a shot (albeit dismal) at the playoffs.

A thing that is reassuring is that it's three months, and we haven't heard Rex give Sanchez even the most minute of praises. All of his praises are about the fact that he will have competition.

Garrard or Sanchez, does it really matter? Neither of them will get the Jets anywhere near the playoffs. This year is going to suck and there isn't anything anybody can do about it.

    I never said he wasn't.

    What I said was......

I don't believe it's an even competition going in.

He would have to be light years better to unseat Sanchez....

And at 35 he's not going to be. He will be marginally better, enough so, to unseat McElroy, and enough to force Sanchez to focus on the possibility.

That's probably as far as it goes.

If we brought Garrard, Sanchez, Quinn and McElroy in TC I'd be happy. One of them is bound to be decent for this season... cut the one that sucks the most out of the first three at the end of TC and have McElroy in a Charlie Batch role as a perennial back-up.

my main rooting position for this team this year is no sanchez.

david garrard, i just dont think he is any good at this point, he was never more than a middling qb and at this point is old.

brady quinn cant find a start anywhere, how many teams has he been on now? he is the perennial backup.

If any of these guys beat out Sanchez, It will be a great season. Playoffs or "suck for luck" as long as it's not numero 6 at QB I can live with that. I hate the sight of his face, he disgusts me.

But I think Gerard may have something to prove a la Peyton Manning, coming off of an injury hiatus and wanting to prove himself. He could be hungry. But I like McElroy. I don't know, something about that kid makes me want him to succeed.

Don't be so sure...he will very much be competing for the job...if he or any other qb outperforms Sanchez preseason, theyll be the starter week 1
