Cassel easily is the nest best option after Smith now...I can see teams fighting over him, but watch him end up at Arizona
He certainly won't win anyone a Super Bowl. Still, not bad as a stopgap. I wouldn't get into a bidding war for him though.
We take Mark Sanchez games in December/January in cold weather areas Total 15 games: 255/458 at 55.68% and 2773 yards with 14 TDs and 16 INTs. So 55.68%, 184.87 yd/gm, .93 TD/gm, 1.067 INT/gm Remaining 47 games: 773/1409 at 54.86% and 9319 yards with 54 TDs and 53 INTs So 54.86%, 198.28 yd/gm, 1.15 TD/gm, 1.13 INT/gm Obviously this is a very basic look at cold weather vs remaining games of his career. He throws more TDs per game and yards per game not in the "cold" but also throws more INTs at lower completion%. In the end, neither statline is very good but you could cherrypick some terrible games or amazing games from each set of games
Agreed. As a stopgap/competition I like him. Also agree, no bidding war. No reason to overpay for a QB. We aren't fielding a great team next year, so we don't need to rush/overpay for a QB to be the general of that team
I would throw up violently if we sign Matt Cassel. He fucking sucks unless we have the Patriots QB friendly system
99% of Jet fans are already violently throwing up watching Sanchez play as well. They both are garbage. Sucks we missed out Smith. He would of been worth a second rounder or third rounder. Hopefully Campbell is available.
The biggest difference between Smith and Sanchez is Smith had a backup that was actually good enough to get him a ring.
Because Sanchez struggled last year we want somebody-elses trash? Cassell and Campbell would have done just as bad as Sanchez last year. Just becasue you would have lower expectations for these guys does not make them better
I know right. The kid didn't even play in a SB yet somehow he was good enough to get a ring. :breakdance:
Not a Sanchez fan myself. However, I'd prefer to bring him back than turn to Matt Cassel. Think if Jets & Chiefs played last year many people would change their tune. One full game of watching Cassel is enough to make you reconsider.
So when we went 11-5 in 2010, we weren't good enough to get to the SB? I don't like Mark as much as the next guy, but that's just bullshit. We stop the run in the AFCCG, lock down Aaron Rodgers 2 weeks later and NY Jets have a ring.
