St. Louis (21-5) should break into the top 25 after winning their 9th straight, beating #15 Butler 65-61. Today's big game: #11 Georgetown (Big East) visits #8 Syracuse (ACC). Other games: Villanova (17-10) season on the line against #17 Marquette. Elsewhere: Lipscomb - Kennesaw State Bryant University - Quinnipiac Austin Peay - Liberty Praire View - Ala. State Canisius - Vermont North Carolina - North Carolina St. _
Joe, I don't think they have win to win 3 of 4. They have to beat PC, then win one of the other 3. If that happens, then they have to win two games in the BE tournament. Basically, they will have a minimum of 5 games left and they have to win 4.
Yeah, I see what you mean. Essentially, you're saying that SJU 2nd round Big East tourney opponent would be easier than any of the Pitt, ND, Marquette group they're ending the season with? Sounds good. Now that I look at it, taking 3 our of 4 to close out the year was ambitious thinking on my part. Either way both scenarios has them going into Selection Sunday at 20-13. I hope that's enough and that the NCAA doesn't cut off the Big East at 7 teams and 'Nova getting the last nod. And yes, Providence is a must game. Talk about playing a full 40 minutes. The Villanova defense was absolutely relentless as the team scores a huge, rare win over Marquette. That's the kind of effort a team should play with every single game.
SJU gonna lose to Pitt at home. Will be tough to make the Tourney Now. BTW, Yisman, they put SJU in the bonus after 6 Pitt fouls today. Progress for ESPN!
Big win for the heels over NC State, I think the Heels are almost a lock at this point. let's hope they keep getting better and maybe they can do some damage in the Tourney?
I mean seriously, look at that schedule! Not all records are created equal. I may take my shots at UNC and about how they have won some of their titles, but I will say this: That team faces everybody inside and outside of that conference. Never, ever do I recall thinking they have a cupcake schedule.
This years sched wasn't as difficult b/c UK backed out for a year and UT wasn't as good as normal but year in and year out they always play quality non conf scheds and I love that. I wish all big programs did it that way, I love the big non conf matchups in Nov/Dec.
How many teams have faced Indiana, Texas, UNLV and Butler? Not even almighty GONZAGA has as tough an out of conference schedule.
Have to do some research I think the last 8 years I've maybe seen them lose twice in person. We should be OK. *Edit: Actually not true. I forgot about a bunch of games in school. But at least post-grad I've been pretty successful.
Yisman, nothing significant about "4:00" other than to set up the additional "4:00 elsewhere" list so as to take a playful shot at nyjunc's NC (ACC) in a "who cares?" sense, that's all I meant. Notice that the "elsewhere" list had a "State" school playing, the better to include NC - NC 'State' in that 'who cares?' list. Just a playful joke that apparently fell flat.
seton hall/villanova, what a finish seton hall desperation steal+three, and then Arcidiacono dribbled himself into the corner and missed a low percentage shot.
God, I hate being right so often. It is inexcusable for any coach to allow his team to have such a poor perimiter defense in a major conference like the Big East. Absolutely inexcusable.
