A logical post about Sanchez. Everybody wants him gone but the alternatives at this point are worse.

Hopefully Sanchez takes the next step if not we will have a new QB to bash.

There's one huge difference: Vick was/is an extremely fast and effective running QB. Having that kind of ability can impede the development of other fundamental QB skills. I even remember him saying that he didn't spend adequate time studying film while with the falcons. I'm not saying that he's an all pro QB, but taking into consideration how bad the eagles o-line has been, he hasn't done that bad.

    1. Why are you even defending Vick?
    2. I know Nacho sucks. That's the bottom line.
    3. I want him gone too. Just when the time is right (unlike the multitude here.)
    4. That said, saying Vick was a running threat means jack shit. Believe it or not, QB runs are a vital threat in any robust WCO. If the QB cannot run, then there goes a sizable chunk of options (like sprint option right, the play Montana connected with Clark for a game winning TD.) Nacho will be running with WCO as well. Joe Montana has. So did Steve Young. And so did many other WCO QBs.
    5. If he was dumb enough, as a QB, to neglect the film studies, what more do you need to say anyway?

I wasn't defending Vick I was just comparing both he and Sanchez, and the fact that their circumstances are completely different. On one hand you have a QB who relied too heavily on his legs because he had relative success doing it. On the other hand you have a QB in Sanchez who doesn't have that type of ability to rely on, which should have forced him to be a more effective QB.

If the jets are able to acquire someone like a moore or foles et al. in the offseason, that would definitely be an upgrade.

I don't understand this argument. Vick wasn't a great passer but he was at his core a running QB, who beat teams that way and was excellent at doing so. Sanchez isn't a runner, all he has is passing and to be fair he kinda sucks at it.

Replacing horse shit with donkey shit is upgrade in your book? Got it.

Vick sucked at passing - that much is true (1).
Even a dumbass like him improved his passing in WCO, under Andy and Marty (2)
So, why are we even talking about hot garbages like Moore and Foles? Think draft next season. Keep Sanchez and let him suck. He will be a great example of how not to play QB. Any QB studying Nacho will get a lot of bad things a QB should not do. That's a valuable lesson too.

They can/will be an upgrade because statistically they are better. I never said they would be world beaters, but an improvement, no matter how marginal, wouldn't be a surprise (do you know how bad Sanchez is statistically).

What makes you so sure the Jets will be able to pick up a viable QB in the draft next season. In terms of Foles, he's young, has a big arm, and performed well on a team that had atrocious pass protection.

Vick's improvement might not have only been due to the tutelage of Andy and Marty but to his willingness to improve as an overall QB and not be a one trick pony (serving time in jail would do that to you).

I'm no Vick fan but did he kill your dog or something?

^ Correct. The question is - whether MM and the WCO can help MS to suck less than he did last season?

having an argument about vick is pointless. vick was off the charts as an athlete. not comparable to MS.

Yeah true. I think M&M is a good OC and the best we have had in awhile, if he can't fix Sanchez some what then there is no question Sanchez will be donezo.
