Matt Moore has proven he can play in this league, he hasn't proven he can win. He'll have a backup job for many years so no he wasn't playing for his career 2 years ago. There is a major difference btw that type of pressure and pressure to win.

When his team has been out of the race and he can relax and just play he plays well, when he has pressure to lead his teams to win he fails.

Thanks for further proving the point, 2007 w/ the team out of the race he comes in and plays well.

    To recap:

2007 w/ no pressure to win: plays well
2009 w/ no pressure to win: plays well
2010 w/ pressure to win: awful
2011 w/ pressure to win: awful
2011 w/ no pressure to win: plays well

I'm sure it's all just a coincidence but I'm noticing a trend, how about you?

He had Williams, Smith, Stewart, LaFell. he had talent on O yet he led that O to 12 PPG in the 5 games he started. mark Sanchez gets brutalized by so many and had half the talent but led his awful O to 16 PPG this year.

By the time Moore started playing Miami was 0-3, he came in the 4 game w/ the score tied at 0-0 and he played awful until they lost a few more games and were out of the race then he played "great".

Matt Moore is 13-12 as a starter

2007: won 2 games late in the season w/ the team out of the race
2009: won 4 games late w/ the team out of the race
2011: won 6 games w/ the team out of the race

Very impressive, teams will be lined up to hand him a starting job. Carolina was so impressed w/ the job he did leading them to all those great wisn that they released him. Miami was impressed w/ all the wins in 2011 that they took a QB top 10 the following draft.

I like Matt Moore as a BACKUP. If he's starting for you then your tam isn't going anywhere but in a pinhc he can come in and hold the fort until the starter is back.

You make a lot of good points. I think if the Jets brought him in Sanchez would probably beat him in camp because that's when Sanchez shines and when Moore doesn't. If Sanchez comes out and plays shitty in the first or first few games and they pull the plug on him Moore could perform very well managing the game and get some wins with this good D behind him.

Yes they can be. Drop the unproductive over priced veterans. Draft new talent. Sign a free agent or two at a discount. Make a trade here a trade there. Check the waiver pool. Develope and coach the shit out of team over the summer. Have competition at every position. Develope an identity and mold yhe team into it.

Preseason, cut the fat. Opening day of new season, proceed to win games.

SMH. Curtis Painter is far worse than Mark Sanchez.

His teams were ALWAYS out of the race when he played, dipshit.

And, for example, to suggest that an undrafted rookie could just "relax and play" because his team is out of the hunt is just beyond stupid...no offense.

I would love to have Matt Moore on this team for the right price. If Sanchez blows his chance we need a QB that can play and Matt is that.

Matt after starting for the Dolphins when Henne went down the Dolphins not only drafted a QB but brought in another QB to start and mentor him. That does not give me a big vote of confidence in Matt Moore.

No they weren't, he started OPENING DAY in 2010 and took over at 0-3 for Miami. They still had a shot untl they fel to 0-6/0-7.

By the time he got to Miami he had established himself as a useful backup in this league, he wasn't playing for his career in 2011.

He is a quality backup, nothing more.

Curtis Painter ??... really ? he was suppose to be developing under Manning so he could take over when Payton goes..thats the whole reason they drafted him....you seen how that went.

    Sanchez over Painter....

BUT everyone else starting over Sanchez.

LOL, listen to yourself...they had a shot until they fell to 0-6/0-7. That's a good one. I'm going to do myself a favor and not argue with you.

For the record, he's not really proven to be anything than a quality backup, so I don't consider him anything other than that...but the night's still young, and I've seen plenty of starting QBs that were worse.

They had a shot at 0-3 when he first entered w/ the score tied at 0 and they scored on that possession so they led 7-0. At 1-3 they are still in it if they win, even at 0-4 they wouldn't have been done. But it reached 0-4 then he was even worse against us the next game(after a bye week) to fall to 0-5.

when they got to 0-6/0-7 they were done then magically he got it going and had a "good year".

Again, it must be some strange coincidence that he plays terribly when his teams have a chance and he's "good" when they don't. That sounds like a player any team would want to build around.

You ignored my question, why did Car let him go? why did Miami draft a top 10 QB in the next draft? Obviously they feel about hik more like I do than you do so ignore all my points and keep burying your head in the sand. That's your problem, not mine.

I have always been a somewhat optomistic Jets fan, with a touch of realism thrown in. I don't think things are necessarily as dire, as most think, especially the "professionals" at ESPN. Although there were some troubling times last year with Sanchez, I don't think he is absolutely a lost cause. Let's see what happens if we solidify the OL (Warmack) , maybe exchange Greene for Bradshaw, and have Holmes, Kerley, Hill, Edwards (re-sign), and Keller (resign/rework contract) to throw to (Yes they have to stay healthy, as does the entire team as depth is a problem, Thanks Tanny). Focus on OLB with the 2nd and maybe even the 3rd pick, sign Devito. If it turns out that the best thing to do is trade Revis, then do so and use the draft picks to upgrade where needed.

Yeah, because 4th, 5th, and 6th games of the year is real crunch time. I already explained to you how Moore came to Miami around the beginning of August. Then he's already thrown in there by week 4. Do you not concede that that's a tough spot to be in for anybody? The guy is just finished unpacking and he's starting...WITHOUT THE NECESSARY PREPARATION. Don't you at least see how he could have hit his stride later because of these particular circumstances?

At the most crucial time of the year, week's one and two, the year he started in Carolina, he got a concussion the first week. I already said that. He may have only started TWO games before they were "out of the hunt" according to you that year. They were 0-6 when he came back for his 3rd start in week 7, he played well vs. the 49ers and they won the game...does that count? I dunno, as you make the rules. Is 1-6 still in it? If so, props to Moore for keeping the Panthers in the hunt in that situation. Also, too bad he completely ruined the Panthers' playoff chances the following week, as they fell to 1-7. Then he got hurt.

And he left Carolina because that team was so bad they picked first in the next year's draft. They picked Cam Newton, and there was an upheaval there. Moore wanted an opportunity to start, and he got it in Miami.

Then there was a regime change in Miami last year...quite often, new coaches and such want to have THEIR OWN guy in there at QB. These things happen all the time. Moore was the MVP of the Dolphins the year he played there, and I mean officially.

You seem to be on some kind of magical fantasy trip. Your theory is preposterous and unfounded. I LIVE in Florida, and all the Dolphins games are televised here...did you actually FOLLOW those things, or are you just looking at the stat sheet?

I didn't say crunchtime but they were still in the race at 0-3.

The new regime knew what moore was capable of, they could have bolsetered another position if they thought Moore could be a good starter in this league- if they thought they could win w/ him.

I saw most of his games in Miami, played realyl well when they had no chance, played terribly when they still had a chance.

MVP of a 6-10 team is impressive, wake me when he wins his first meaningful game.

Sanchez was the LVP of a 6-10 team.

MVP shows the team respects you. Something i've heard a lot of ex teammates of Moore very verbal on, including Kris Jenkins. It's not easy for a QB to impress a NT with toughness.
Every ex teammate of Sanchez either gives a negative endorsement of Sanchez, or bites their tongue in trying to say nothing. Nothing ever positive though.

Car and Mia did not feel Moore was the long term answer (as he isn't).
So they drafted high on QB with new regime in each case.
The Jets may end up doing that as well, and using the 9 on Geno. If they don't think Geno worth it tho, and draft class for QB's are not great, they will need a stop gap, which Moore is.

That's awesome. So how much of that respect won Miami and meaningful games? sanchez has won FOUR playoff games(all on the road), Moore has never won a single meaningful game in this league. Moore isn't half the QB Sanchez is.
