If the Jets can get a two for a one dimensional backup offensive lineman...

... I will post pictures of the hot escort chick that lives directly across from my balcony sunbathing in the nude.

She could be a model if fucking senators wasn't so profitable.

This is never going to happen. Teams will wait for this guy to truly suck and then the Jets will trade him for a fifth.

Howard was a pleasant surprise last year but now in a zone blocking scheme he becomes a huge question mark again imo.

Definitely bring him back tho, we don't have many options. Id say bring him back and draft an OG in the first 3 rds.

Everybody is a huge upgrade over Hunter...Howard was average and still struggled against the pass. Just looked good because of that shit fest that was Wayne F.Hunter.

Its like we had Wayne Hunter and everyone was with due right saying get rid of him and we bring in Howard and he does a day and night turn around of the RT spot and we want to trade him already. Let the man get another season under his belt he earned the right to do that I say. Why spend a draft pick in an area thats not a glaring need right now thats a wasted pick

This is not the thread to discuss that. And yeah, you did kind of start it.

I'd take the second rounder but unfortunately, Tanny, the only GM that would give up a second rounder for Austin, was not hired by another team.

I would still try to sign someone else for competition. Winston Justice had a decent year last year with Indy at least to start; he wouldn't break the bank.

Howard for a 2nd would be a coup, especially in this draft. This is a very deep draft.

If the consensus is that Austin is not worth a 2nd rounder, does this mean Idzik is continuing the Tanny trend of over valuing our own players?

I started a what would you trade for Revis thread.

So no, I didn't start it.

I didn't start in with an insult to the poster, that went off on a tangent....in this thread.

    This was unsolicited douchebaggery.

You'll also notice the lack of a response.

I doubt anyone gives us a 2 for him, but I would be ecstatic if they did.

Howard is a restricted free agent. The organization has a right to put a tender on the market, but must pay the tender amount if a team doesn't make an offer. However, if a team does make an offer, and the Jets don't match the offer, they receive a 2nd round pick from the offering team. If the Jet's do match an offer, and Howard chooses to go to the offering team, the Jet's get a 2nd round pick.

No one is saying lets trade Howard, and flip a project.

    Tampa Bay
    New England Patriot
    Cleveland Browns
    San Diego Chargers
    Philadelphia Eagles
    New York Giants

Other than Cleveland, they have a real shot at the playoffs. If they do only get him for 1 year, it only cost them $3 Million, since the roster bonuses and workout bonuses only count against the Jets. How many sure thing #2's are there going to be that play to the same caliber?

    Let's start with New England....

When have they ever overpaid for secondary talent, rather then cutting them?

And their HC came up as a secondary coach.....

And do you really consider the vagiants a realistic trade partner?

I think that's all we need to know here...

When has New England ever wanted to Fuck the Jets?

Yes, the Giants would be a realistic trade partner. Not only would they improve their dismal secondary, but have a better chance of resigning him, since he won't have to move. There is some added value to that, not millions, but some.

    Giants 5th worst last year
    New England 4th Worst
    Tampa Bay worst.

When ha e they o repaid for Secondary talent.

    They don't, not ever.

Their HC has a degree in economics and came up as a secondary coach.

If he doesn't value it ...no one should

Idzik will address his own free agents, ramping up talks with agents this week in Indianapolis. The Jets have 12 unrestricted free agents, including eight starters. They appear to be most interested in retaining DT Mike DeVito, TE Dustin Keller and perhaps S LaRon Landry, depending on his price. They also have to make a decision on two key restricted free agents, RT Austin Howard and TE Jeff Cumberland. They have to decide which tender to give Howard -- first-round ($2.9 million) or second-round ($2 million).

    1st round tender.
