Delzaster has been horrible on the PP, but Richards takes the cake, he is absolutely useless at this point, WTF is wrong with this guy, I'll tell you another thing, I can't watch him and Gabby go into the corner and be bumped off the puck like a school girl for one more second....
Zero offense w/o Nash....played the whole game at the Habs pace and the 4 on 1 when they scored the second goal was like the keystone cops...poor Hank...
Type of game where there is no space on the ice to maneuver, you have to score on the PP...but when you have the worst PP in NHL history you can't...
That's right: Blame Richards, not the head coach who puts him out on the "Power" play time after time. When is Tortorella going to be held accountable for the dismal performance of this teams "Power" play?
Good- Hags Bad- the rest of the team except Richards Ugly- Richards, 4 on 1 for 2nd Hab goal at least Cally tried to get back, Richards came back and took the puck out of the net after the goal
Im just glad it was Staal who got his shot blocked and got caught instead of MDZ or else thats all we'd hear about for a week
Give the MDZ stuff a break...Jonny "I love me some Delzaster...I hate me some Hags, Steps, Richards, the Stickboy, The Zamboni driver, MR's son...etc..."
When is Tortorella going to be held accountable for the dismal performance of this teams "Power" play?
dude you have season tix, do you know anything about hockey?......they shouldn't necessarily be "setting up", they should be fucking moving their feet and relying on a few things, 1)natural playmaking ability of NHL calibre players, 2) Heavy point shots 3) someone getting in front of the net, oh and 4)winning faceoffs none of that is coachable at this level.........they hesitate when taking shots, pass too much around the perimeter, no one is willing to pay the price in front of the net and they don't have a point man with a huge slap shot, so what to propose Torts do at this point to fix it? they lack confidence right now and that's about 95% of power play in my opinion.....like others have said, the only thing I think he can do is take Richards off the fucking PP, that's about it.
I don't know man, every power play is the same puck movement - right wing to right D to left wing to an easy blocked shot. It's completely predictable. Some better passing schemes are totally coachable
Gee, I don't know. I'm kinda stupid, but I'll give it a shot: Ways that a coach can impact a power play 1) Modify the schema/general strategy (Ex: Cycle, crash the net, ect.) 2) Change the players on the Power Play (Bench those who are ineffective) 3) Increase the freqency of the line changes based upon how often opponent clears the puck 4) Have an effective Power Play coach on your staff who can focus specifically on the Power Play (see Oates, Adam) Best I can do in 90 seconds. Which of these has Tortorella enforced on his team?
I really wish someone would hold Torts accountable for their abysmal power play. Richards can't handle a puck for shit. He doesn't deserve to be out there on the power play. And you can't say that since they are elite talent, that they are beyond coaching. That's a load of crap and you know it. No one is beyond coaching. If they were all beyond coaching, we'd be undefeated. They just toss the puck in, stand against the boards for a little bit and wait until the other team steals the puck and clears it. Every damn offensive chance we get whether it's 5 on 5 or 5 on 4 or even 5 on 3. God forbid we do start passing the puck around, no one wants to shoot it. And then no one is there to try to jam it into the net.
Some PP imporovements: Put Nash and Strals on the points and tell them to keep shooting, Put Boyle in front of the net, and tell him not to move, just screen the goalie, and have him take the faceoffs, Richards loses every faceoff
Is it just me or do they abort every other possible rush to make a line change and dump the puck instead of pushing the other team (who also usually needs the line change more and is in a weaker position)
why would u put Nash on the point? He doesnt have a big shot at all. Hes far better served down low....either in front of net or the high slot.
I agree that no one has a big shot....but Nash doesnt have one of the better ones. Hes not a shooter. Hes best on the break as everyone can see. Hes never been a shooter...hes not brett Hull dude. never was. At this point, we just need guys to hit the net from teh point and clean up down low. Michaletti was talking last night about playing off the shot like the Habs do. What we;re doing is playing off thepassand itsnot working. Just get the puck on net and then let your skill and natural ability take over. Wwe'retoo worried about making the perfect pass.
