I would say the run D's leakiness was only made worse by the offense going 3 and out over and over. I have a hard time nit-picking at a solid D that was strung out by shit offense and special teams for the second straight year.

Absolutely trading Revis would make us better if it were to land us 2 or 3 players that could regularly contribute.

    Ok... Enough of this joke.

If Jets had a borderline mediocre offense, they could have FORCED the other team to pass. Ok? If Jets had a borderline mediocre pass rush, they could have FORCED the other QB to throw away in a hurry.

But it's better to have Revis in favor all these. Right?

I love revis as a player and it makes me sick that our franchises best player ever won't stay a jet, but after watching his interview I think he is as good as gone. He wants franchise qb money and no cb is worth that. Get draft picks and start rebuilding.

And again, the Jets were #2 in opposing completion percentage against.
    http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/passing/sort/completionPct/position/defense

They were also #7 in opposing QB rating against.
    http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/passing/sort/quarterbackRating/position/defense

That kind of blows up the "we were only good in pass defense because they didn't have to pass" argument. When teams tried to pass against us they were not very successful relative to passing against other teams.

If fans are so focused on passing defense:

Trade Revis to SF for a first (They've got like 33 second round picks so they'll part with a 1st or early 2nd).
Draft a stud Safety who will be on rookie contract for years.
Keep either Bell or Landry (preferred).
Bring back the same starting CB.

There's a very solid backfield next season that doesn't drown the entire team salary-cap wise.

    =========
Personally, I'd use that pick on offense but I used defensive player in this example to show that Jets can indeed keep it together in the defensive backfield (or even improve) after dealing Revis.

If the return was enough I would trade Revis. But he's too good to trade away for 50 cents on the dollar. You'd have to be able to add multiple pieces.

I love Revis and I think he's one of the all-time great Jets and possibly the best defensive player in the league but his history of hold outs and all this media posturing is bothersome to me. It's about the Jets not just one player. If he wants 16 million a year he can walk. This is a quarterback league and he's not a quarterback. Oh and also if Revis wants to remain a jet, maybe he should consider taking a cheaper deal so we can keep him.

    Thank you.

Revis being gone is going to hurt, but if we can get a few good picks for the guy I'd be fine with it at this point. Our pass D will drop next year, not because of Revis, but because we'll most likely be losing on 2 of the 4 pieces on why our pass D was ranked so good. Still though, of we can get some pressure on the QB, and our offense shapes up we should be fine.

    #### REVIS!!!!!!!

Guy has been ME ME ME since the day he was drafted....

How about you get drafted - Happily take the contract your draft slot calls for - Play out that deal to at least 1 year left - Sign a fair TEAM deal and play that out...

If it were me i would do everything I could to avoid Hold out and controversy - My goal would be to retire in NY - Be the #1 player for the Fans and make money off that the rest of my life as a King In NEW YORK!!!!!!

I think you make a lot less acting like a punk ass selfish bastard and then going to the highest bidder who may be Cleveland...

I say his Jersey sales would be many times higher if he was a Team player from day 1 - I never had a shot to buy that jersey since almost every year was a questionmark controversy... He would sell Jets Jerseys for LIFE as a Team player...

But, go ahead and grab the upfront money your agents want NOW!!!!!

DONE with this punk - can't stand to look at his face..... Looking forward to the new Gm building a complete T E A M!!!!

Very poor job by Andrea Kramer. the interview was very one sided. I think she should have asked about contract demands and previous holdouts and maybe whar Revis thinks the impact would be on the Jets. These interviews are always done to make the player look like "poor" souls

I would be surprised if we see Revis in a Jets jersey ever again.

Too many people here are saying Revis should take a FAIR deal for the TEAM. So you're basically saying he should take a hometown discount to stay with the Jets and try to win a championship. The way I see it is probably the way he sees it. This team is not going to win a championship anytime soon based on the roster moves they have made recently. So basically his choices are...

Stay with the Jets for less money and no championship in sight.

    OR

Take more money and go to a Super Bowl contender team (like the Broncos).

I'm as big of a Jets fan as there is but this would not be a difficult decision for anyone. If Revis walks it's the Jets' fault not his own.

I have no issue with Revis wanting more money. It's pro sports money is an incentive to perform. The real problem is the NFL salary cap and the draft itself. Competitive balance for the owners fly's directly in the face of cash insentive for the players.

They should get rid of the draft and the cap and about half the teams. The top players would get paid obscene amounts and the game would be substantially better.

  17. As good of a player as Revis is..he is even more greedy.

If you think about it...he's been a contractual headache since day 1 of being drafted.

He's just never gonna be happy w/ his deal..ever. Which means there will always be controversy/conflict surrounding him. The jets need to get away from the media turmoil.

I'm not concerned about his ACL or finding a trade partner. All it takes is one desperate owner to fall in love & we'll get the lucrative trade package we crave.

    Good riddance Darrelle.

People seem to be consistently missing the point of the Revis thing. There are 2 options for the current season:

    1. Pay him QB money and keep him.
    2. Let him play this season and lose him to free agency next year maybe netting a conditional 3rd

There really is no in-between. He is not going to sign a reasonable contract. He wants Super Mario + money, period.

So because of this the option that becomes the best for the Jets is to trade him and get as much as possible for him. We may not get picks that equal Revis, but the key point is that we will likely get picks that ARE better than one more year of Revis and a conditional pick.

You HAVE to trade Revis if you want to build this team

What makes you think any owner is desperate to have DR? Owners are about money just like players are. You really think NFL GM's are whispering to their owners that DR is going to get us over the top? They are under the same constraints that we are.

Definitely frustrating for Jet fans to see our best player do an ego driven interview like this.
    But the interview changes nothing.

The decision on Revis comes down to the levers of money and return value.
As of now, we don't know realistically what either are..

The main concern is Revis camp could price him out of the NY Jets range, while also making him less attractive for teams to give up any meaty return value via trade.

Losing Revis, while getting very mediocre draft pick value, is worst case scenario.
Trading him doesn't even free up much 2013 cap, based on how contract is written. So I'm hoping we either sign him at around 13mil per, or get enough draft pick return value to improve our offense.
