The top ten is starting to change. Names like Sharif Floyd , Sheldon Richardson, Coradelle Patterson are appearing in the top ten. Lotueilu and Moore moving down.

Coples, Star, and Wilkerson would make it easy for whatever linebackers we acquire.

Who would everyone rather have if the Moore and Star both fell to us?
I say we go Moore because he fills a bigger need

I am usually against trading up, and if both fall, that means there is a very good chance someone WILL offer to trade up. How about that option?

I cannot find the link now but I read it at one of the many NFL and Draft sites I visit (Russ Lande?). He said of all the NFL scouts he had talked to NOT ONE had Moore in the 1st round.

Honestly... I'm hoping for Geno Smith to be there at #9... if we get him with no need to trade up it would be one hell of a pick.
Although with the depth at OLB in this year's class I wouldn't mind if we traded down.

That said I really hope guys like Floyd, Richardson, Joeckel, Fisher go before our pick.. that what give us a lot of choice.

Geno Smith is my dream pick this draft. I don't see the bad's that others see in him.

He would have to be passed by several QB hungry teams though.

I think if Patterson is there at 9, we have to consider him. I understand his size doesn't look like it would fit in our offense, but the guy doesn't play like he's 6'3". He has incredible change of direction and was asked to run a ton of underneath routes at Tennessee. I was very surprised to see how well he was able to beat press coverage (something all of our receivers, even Hill, struggle with) also. We need playmakers and that's exactly what Patterson is.

  13. Star to the Jets would be unbelieveable. You don't pass up that type of talent. He's a playmaker at a rare spot. His first step is downright frightening.

Agree 100%. A front 3 of Mo, Star, and Q would be dominant for years to come. And like another poster said above, it would almost make OLB less of a need... just in a sense that it will make the job a lot easier for whoever ends up there.

I wasnt that high on Patterson, but Ive watched him a lot more recently and he looks to be extremely dynamic. Probably the most sudden athlete Ive ever seen for his size at 6'3. He's without a doubt a playmaker and has the potential to be a very good #1.

Size, speed, hands, route running, YAC/vision are all pluses in my book.

I would take Star or Moore in a heartbeat, BUT I'd also trade down.

I think it's important we nail this pick and get someone who can come in and contribute. The way the prospects layout we may be better off with defense but there are plenty of good candidates. Here's my big board for first round targets.
    1. Geno Smith- Should be good WCO Quarterback replacing Sanchez with Smith would be one hell of an upgrade for next year.
    2. Star Lotulelei- Would make us scary in the trenches, playmaker.
    3. Jarvis Jones- Many would go Damonte Moore but if Jones isn't slowed down by his condition he's a Vonn Miller type pass rusher.
    4. Damonte Moore- We replace old and slow Calvin Pace with arguably the past outside linebacker in this draft.
    5. Luke Joeckel- Put him at right tackle and our line is a strength next year.
    6. Ezekiel Ansah- Might not be best fit for 3-4 defense but is an athletic freak loaded with upside.
    7. Kenny Vaccaro- If we lose Revis and Landry a playmaker like Vaccaro is going to be needed in our secondary.
    8. Chance Warmack- Could argue him over Vaccaro would do work for the running game and is almost guaranteed to be a great guard
    9. Dion Jordan- Rex Ryan needs some passrushers and Jordan has potential and was pretty productive at Oregon
    10. Alex Ogletree- Would be one hell of a replacement for Bart Scott but stock is falling with DUI and might be a reach at 9
    11. Barkevious Mingo- All the tools are there would't be too excited for this pick.
    12. Coradelle Patterson- Great speed and size would also be a reach at 9 but good target if we move back a few spots.
I left out Milliner and Werner thinking they'll be off the board and unlikely picks although Milliner would be a strong option if Revis is traded before the draft. Eric Fisher looks like he'll be a strong tackle but Id pass on him for somebody on my big board

I don't want Star. He played 3-4 NT at Utah IIRC, and I see us moving towards the 4-3 or 46 base, simply because Coples is much less effective at 3-4 DE as he would be as a 4-3 DT.

    DE:
    DT: Coples
    NT: Star
    DE: Wilk

I know Wilk is versatile, but I'd still rather him on the inside.

If we can't take an LB, I'd rather trade down and take a 4-3 DE like Ansah or the like.

I'll take Star in a heartbeat. Drafting him will make this DL set for the next 6-8 years. Then draft a OLB in the 2nd round - you can get very good starting pass rushers in this round - Mo Lewis was a perfect example - this draft is deep for that.

Anyone thinking that the Jest will draft a QB in the 1st, lol - forget it. That would set this franchise back another 3 years - especially with a questionable WR corp and RB to support it.

IMO, Rex's plan was to make this team's D an elite group and, judging by what we have so far, maybe 2 players away from that reality. The 1st 2 rounds in this draft will make the plan come true.
