Minimum 6 from the judges and I guess two judges threw 7s.

Why don't they just dunk at the other basket?

    Bledsoe too!

If could combine the first round of the East and the second round of the West and take out all the misses, great dunk contest

Next year, have a past winner MJ, Vince, etc pick the contestants. You think LeBron is saying no to MJ to the dunk contest? Let only past winners be judges (keep out the mid 2000s winners) so they understand what it takes. Then after doing this once, the last winner gets to pick the next 6 participants. (I feel like if you made a defending champ defend his title, people picked might throw it not to win)

Change it to 6 participants, 3 from each conference if you want to keep East vs West, or just 6. Then 3 dunks in the first round, take the best two. Top 3 advance, if two guys tie, guy with the highest high score moves on.

Top 3 goes to the finals, same deal, 3 dunks, top 2 count. Winner is crowned

Charles and Shaq's commentary is more entertaining than this crappy dunk contest...

And MJ's and Blake's aren't? Vince Carter's in game dunks weren't good enough? MJ has rings and slam dunk trophy, Kobe has rings and slam dunk trophy, LeBron only has a ring. Gotta add to that. The media should keep pestering LeBron to do it. If him and Blake were in it, automatically one of the greatest dunk contests ever. Throw in some more kids around them, have so much fun and some really impressive dunks.

It's not only that you need make the dunk, you have to get it on your first or second try, something the better dunkers like LeBron and Blake would be able to do. If you go back and watch the 2000 dunk contest, it's perfect format.

    DeAndre Jordan ‏@deandrejordan
ok, count me in for next year.

    Well that's one spot.

    JR Smith ‏@TheRealJRSmith
Man for all this I shoulda did the #Dunkcontest

    Another spot.

Figure Ross has to defend. Throw in Ibaka and ask Blake and LeBron want they want if they win. A car or something to entice them? Then let me run the dunk contest and we are good to go. It's simple to make it more fun. Even this crop of dunkers would be better if

    a) better judges
    b) let the judges see replay before scoring
    c) no east vs west
    d) Either do the X games style they just go in for 10-15 minutes and just do dunk after dunk (no props), take the top 3 out of that and then go to 3 dunks, take the top 2. OR
    e) do 3 dunks, take the top 2 of both.

Easy fixes, David Stern should give me a call. Or Adam Silver maybe.

The X games style helps promote just big dunks on skill, taking out of props until the finals (so we don't get silly props, only their best prop dunks)

    And two more people?

Wall, DeAndre, Smith/Shump, Ross is a decent 4. Only one of Smith/Shump could go probably.

    John Wall ‏@John_Wall
Thinkin bout Dunk Contest for nxt yr!?!

    Iman Shumpert ‏@I_Am_Iman
“@John_Wall: Thinkin bout Dunk Contest for nxt yr!?!” Shump too

Ive kept quiet about the Spurs, but im liking their chances again. Harden killed the Spurs last year, he broke them, it wasnt Westbrook or Durant that broke them mentally, it was Harden. With Harden out of the picture things will be different. The Thunder are certainly a great team but the Spurs defensively have improved a ton since last season. Tiago Splitter is finally playing at a respectable level and Kawhi Leonhard has taken huge steps.

Ultimately if the Spurs can stay healthy, I believe we will see a Spurs-Thunder rematch. The one things that scares me though is that if the Spurs fall to the 2 seed and play the Clippers, that could be a tough series. The 1 seed is a must imo, force the Clippers-Thunder to play in the 2nd round.

We also rarely see finals rematches, so somethings gotta give wether it be the Heat falling or the Thunder falling.

What's not to like about their chances? They're going to be in it every year. Right now the Heat are the favorite and then there is everyone else.

Reggie Miller said that Durant simple reverse dunk was the best all weekend. I guess he didn't watch any other basketball this weekend because as he tries to make fun of the dunk contest he must of missed this dunk or plenty others like this. And in fact he probably missed the two LeBron dunks that happened in game before that Durant dunk.
