you clearly haven't watched Matt Moore's career, this is a man who cannot play w/ expectations and pressure. he's ok on bad teams, we know we can win w/ Mark. You can't win w/ Moore.
Hahah because Tannehill did more than Moore? You went against your "watch the game don't look at stats" mantra because it fit your argument to give Tannehill that win not Moore. Stick your mantra! Moore got the win that game. Did not have to do much, yeah, but that describes how Sanchez got a good amount wins with us and that doesn't stop you from using the Jets W/L as Sanchez's W/L under us. Be consistent. Moore got that win but the story was the Dolphins D/ST. And his W/L vs Sanchez means nothing since W/L is not a QB stat and QBs don't play each other!
nyjunc, you want Sanchez to start again in 2013, probably want McElroy in the #3 slot too, but what would you do with the back-up position?
Im not a Sanchez guy anymore but i still think he could have success in the West Coast offense. Look at Joe Flaco for instant's he was very similiar to Sanchez early in his carrer, very inconsistent they wouldn't let him throw the ball much and so on. Now look at him with all the weapons they have surrounded him with and it made him a Superbowl mvp. If we get the right players around Sanchez i could see him being just as good, but if we dont he is done for sure
I didn't give Tannehill any credit. I simply stated a fact that Moore's record is 1-1 against us. You can keep making stuff up all you want but. I'd be fine w/ Moore as a backup, as long as he's not starting. I'd also be fine w/ carson palmer when he gets cut or a Jason Campbell.
All of this. You guys got to it before I could. What a big old chunk of contradiction. And so shameless
The Jets are going to suck this season. That is OK. They need let the bad contracts come off the books. Then they can move on. The team has no money. So many free agents. So many players to replace. The team has no money. John Idzik is not a miracle worker. I keep reading "Lets see what moves Idzik makes to improve the roster". How?
This is one of those stupid arguments you hear a lot of people use. Every QB plays with expectations and pressure. Just because Moore hasn't won a lot of games does not mean that he can't if he was put in the right situation. If Mark only played in 2011 and 2012, you could say that he can not not play under pressure.
This. He took over in 2011 unexpectedly and had to learn on the fly. He rallied a team that was playing like shit because they knew the coach was a lame duck. Once he got a grip of the offense he played very well, even playing the Cowboys to a 1 point loss and the Pats to a 3 point loss. He stepped in when he had to in 2012 and played well. Cherrypicking of context and interpretation of it will abound but anybody who watched the games and doesn't have an agenda knows the deal.
2009 Panthers: takes over w/ team out of playoff race, plays "great" 79-126, 990 yds, 8 TDs, 1 INT, 4-1 record, 104.9 rating 2010 Panthers: starts opening day 79-143, 857 yds, 5 TDs, 10 INTs, 1-4 record, 55.6 rating 2011 dolphins: takes over in 0-0 tie w/ team at 0-3. SD game plus first 3 starts: 68-115, 706 yds, 1 TD, 4 INTs, 0-3 record as starter, 65.3 rating w/ Miami now at 0-7 and out of the race: 142-232, 1791 yds, 15 TDs, 5 INTs, 6-3 record, 97.8 rating He rallied nothing w/ the team at 0-3, they rallied w/ the season over at 0-7 which is meaningless.
There's a lot that can be done to steady things this year. The basic concept of bringing in a bunch of guys to really compete for spots is something the Jets haven't really done since 2006. In 2007 the Jets traded for Thomas Jones and signed Kenyon Coleman to take two of the open slots in the starting lineup. The only spots there was competition at were QB, very briefly in camp, and at FS. The LG slot was an unmitigated disaster with Kendall on the outs and Adrien Clarke handed the job for one unforgettable season. In 2008 the Jets traded for Brett Favre and Kris Jenkins and handed them jobs. They signed Alan Faneca, Calvin Pace, Damien Woody and Tony Richardson and handed them jobs. The only real competition for jobs was at RCB and TE where Dwight Lowery beat out David Barrett and Chris Baker held off Dustin Keller. In 2009 the Jets signed Marques Douglas, Bart Scott and Jim Leonhard as free agents and handed them jobs to help teach Rex's 3-4. They traded for Lito Sheppard and handed him the RCB job. The only real competition in camp was for the 2nd WR job as Chansi Stuckey beat out a crowd of roleplayers. Then the Jets traded for Braylon Edwards when Cotchery went down and handed him the job. The QB job was a faux competition all camp because Kellen Clemens wasn't going to beat out Mark Sanchez and he didn't. In 2010 the Jets signed LaDainian Tomlinson and he beat out Shonn Greene in a mismatch in camp. Matt Slauson beat out Robert Turner for the LG spot. The Jets traded for Antonio Cromartie and handed him one job while Wilson kept the seat warm for Revis during his holdout. 2011 the Jets signed vet free agents Plaxico Burress and Anthony Mason to play WR. There was no chance 5th round pick Jeremy Kerley was going to beat those guys out although his play level was high enough that the Jets had no problem cutting Mason in mid-season. Jerrico Cotchery asked for and received his release in training camp. He knew what was going to happen when two vet WR's were brought in, he'd seen it in the past, they were going to get handed jobs. 2012 the Jets finally had an open competition at WR, because everybody was hurt in camp at one point or another. The only other positions that had a real competition going on were RT, won by Austin Howard when Wayne Hunter was finally traded and LG where Slauson held off Vlad Ducasse after Ducasse was unable to compete at RT. In 2013 the odds are really good the Jets are going to go into camp with about ten jobs wide open and waiting for somebody to take them. That'll be a refreshing change over the last 6 years or so. The last time so many jobs were up for grabs the Jets over-achieved and went 10-6 and playoffs in 2006.
So everything stayed the same in Carolina from 2009 to 2010? The only thing that was different was pressure? I can play that game. Mark Sanchez 2011 Games 1 thru 14 with no pressure: 8-5 record with 21 TDs 11 Ints Games 15 thru 17 with the pressure of the playoffs on the line: 0-3 record with 5 TDs 9 turnovers. Mark Sanchez with no pressure without Tebow in 2011: 8-8 record with 32 TDs, 18 ints. Mark Sanchez with the pressure of Tebow sitting behind him: 6-9 record with 13 TDs, 26 turnovers. Give me a freakin break! Other than the SD game, Moore had 1 other poor game which came in his first start agasint us. Keep in mind that the guy was signed by Miami with no offseason to learn their offense and 3 weeks into the season he is forced into the starting role. I have seen enough of the guy to know that he can win games in the right situation. This pressure argument is crap.
when his team was out of it he played well, when they had a chance he failed miserably. Sanchez has played well in the biggest games in january, Matt Moore has never been close to January. Make all the excuses you want but the facts are moore hasn't been able to play when he has pressure to win.
The 2010 Panthers never had a chance. Was pressure the reason the Panthers as a team went 2-14? There are a lot of things other than pressure to explain the difference in play from 2009 and 2010. When Moore was wining games in 2009 the Panthers were able to run the ball. In the 5 games he played in 2009 they ran the ball 180 times for 832 yards and 5 Tds. In 5 games he played in 2010 they ran the ball 133 times for 394 yards and 0 TDs. Moore also suffered a concussion in week 1 of 2010 before getting benched mid way thru his second start of the season. After the Panthers went 0-3 he was renamed the starter a few weeks later and played a pretty good game against the 49ers. He had a poor game against Rams when the team rushed for 25 yards and then tore his labrum in the second quarter of the next game. I'm sure none of that had anything to do with it though. It was just the pressure. Sanchez has played well in January in the right situations. Have you looked at his stats compared to the stats of the running game in those playoff wins? Mark hasn't even thrown for 200 yards in a single playoff win. I'm not saying Moore is a better QB than Sanchez, but I haven't seen Moore play with the type of team Sanchez had in 2009 and 2010. I have seen Sanchez play in 2011 and 2012.
Actually it's a huge question, and the most important one facing Idzik. If the money wasn't guaranteed, i guarantee you Sanchez would already be cut.
Yep. Sanchez is a definite cut this off-season if not for the guarantee. The Jets would have better options potentially available at QB if they didn't have that huge cap figure hanging over their heads.
