I dont really think he fills a huge need... Especially considering the other possibilities that could be available
I don't think this is that big of deal. He was probably embarrassed about the whole situation more than anything. Put yourself in his shoes, can you imagine - you'd probably feel like the biggest idiot in the world. I could definetely see myself trying to cover it up, for reasons other than heisman publicity, but personal embarrassment. I'd forgive him if I was a GM for that. This is an aside, I'm not the type of guy that bashes the media, regularly. I chuckle at people that complain about the Jets coverage and what not. I think those guys are just doing their jobs. BUT I definetely think the media is a lot at fault for this Manti Te'o incident. ESPN played that damn story on a freaking continuous loop for the better part of 3 months. At no point did they think they should try to find an obituary? a family member of this "girl"? Etc. It wasn't just ESPN either, as many of the top news outlets CBS, FOX, NBC were playing this. Isn't their jobs to verify and report news? They let the public down big time here. And - of course this isn't a story now is it?
I think Jones will drop due to his medical condition. He may possibly fall to the middle of the first.
Teo has no business going in the first. He will not test well at the combine dropping his stock further. His value as a leader is basically shot after the incident. No offense, but the Jets don't need any more media attention and thats probably the only thing Teo would bring the organization if taken in the first.
This. Would be yet another major distraction from a minor contributor. Unless the NFL bans custom jerseys with any reference to "Tuiasosopo" or Te'o's GF, it can't be done IMO
It is a big deal. Te'o strongest attribute before this mess was his leadership & integrity. I think he will be a solid NFL player, it's just the timing effects his draft stock. He will still be a 1st rd pick, but later in rd 1. The media is a huge problem...Te'o , Tebow..etc. All these media outlets are the evil empire that cares about ratings at everyone's expense.
The medical condition is scary but... Jarvis is big time. Fits great in our defense. What I love most: plays best in his big games 13 tackles 3 sacks in upset of #2 florida 6 tackles 2 sacks vs #2 alabama in sec championship 8 tackles 2 sacks in bowl game vs Nebraska I think it speaks volumes that he can flat out dominate good teams on the biggest stages.
I agree. When I watch him I dream of him, Wilk and Coples giving QBs next to no time to throw the ball. Not only that, I see him sniff out draw plays and adjust to make a play. Also strips the ball in big spots, turnovers = wins,
If Jones has a clear bill of health, no way he makes it to nine. I can't see him getting past Cleveland at the latest, but really any team could use a rush line backer like him.
I'm not so sure. Just because he's healthy now doesn't mean he's not a magnet for injuries. Also, he's turning 24 in October so he's not the youngest guy in the world and he could have a short career due to injury. I would take him at the 9-15 range, but I don't think he should go before 7 or so.
I see him going to either Cleveland or Philly to be honest, unless Philly is looking at an offensive lineman. Jason Peters is coming off a big time injury. Who knows though
LOL @ Manti Teo with the #9 pick... No way this guy should go top ten. J. Jones, Mingo, Geno, whoever is available at 9.
This "clear bill of health" report is by one source...buyer beware. For all we know it could a medical exam scheduled by Jone's agent. Teams interested Jones will have their medical personnel check him out.
Check when this thread was started. Things have changed big times since the OP. Stop the Geno talk at #9...please, that's just as laughable.
