did you see what happened w/ the replacement? he took double digit sacks b/c no receivers were open so unless Peyton was magically going to make his receivers much better we weren't winning.

You know Peyton got blown out on the same field w/ superior talent playing alongside him, right?

we missed by at least 3 games depending upon tiebreakers.

You know Peyton took a sack and threw TWO INTs for TDs in 2 games against SD this year, right? he led his O to an average of 35.5 PPg against SD, SD scored 27 on us. Den's D also scored 2 TDs against SD- do you see where I'm going w/ this?

Would we have been better w/ Peyton? of course but we wouldn't magically have been transformed into a great team. We still would have missed the playoffs but maybe we would have been 8-8 or so.

who said mark is better and do you know what a feature back is? Greene was more of one in '11 & '12 but he didn't have the most carries on the team in '09 or '10

That is the point, the Jets in 2012 would have been better, no one is saying the Jets would be a great team (unless I missed it), then again no one thought Denver would have been great this season either.

There was enough offensive players for Peyton to work with, Holmes (who is to say he would have sustained that very same injury), Kerley emerged as a solid slot receiver, and Keller when healthy is a good TE. Plus he would have turned guys like Stephen Hill and Clyde Gates into legit weapons.

Mark Sanchez has more playoff wins than Tom Brady in the last 4 years.

YOU said Mark was a better playoff QB than Flacco.

It doesn't matter whether Greene was the feature back or not, he was starting by the time the playoffs began in 09 and 10.

Denver made the div rd last year w/ Tebow. Their D/STs were scoring nearly every week, they had a weak division and weak sched but ended up losing in the same round.

Now we are assuming Holmes doesn't get hurt? if he doesn't get hurt we win 2-3 more w/ Mark at QB and if he and keller are healthy all year we are likely a playoff team but the reality is Holmes and keller barely played and kelrey was our #1 option in the pass game.

I think overall he has been, can't forget how bad Flacco was his first few postseasons.

Actually he didn't start any of the playoff games.

Remember how people wanted to dump Flacco before this season and how all the talking heads were laughing when Flacco said he was a top QB.
Be careful what you wish for.
Not trying to say Sanchez is going to all of a sudden become a top QB but I'm not so sure he's ready for the scrap heap just yet.
We all forget that he really came out of college way before he was ready and his handling was less then stellar under Rex.
I hoping that Morningwood and a new QB coach can get his confidence back, along with some legitimate competition in training camp to light a fire under his ass.

Joe Flacco had completion percentages of 60, 63.1, 62.6, 57.6 going into this season. His low season was higher than Sanchez highest. He had QB ratings of 80.3, 88.9, 93.6 and 80.9. His low season was higher than Sanchez highest. He had YPA of 6.9, 7.2, 7.4 and 6.7. His low season was equal to Sanchez highest. He had interception percentages of 2.8, 2.4, 2.0 and 2.2. Sanchez has 5.5, 2.6, 3.3 and 4.0.

They're not close to the same plane as QB's. The question with Flacco going into this year was whether or not he was an average QB on a good team or a good one capable of raising the play of that good team.

Sanchez isn't anywhere near that conversation level. No rational person would claim that Sanchez was an average QB at this point based on his results so far.

Well to a point you could argue Sanchez was on a similar path as Eli in the middle of Sanchez's third year, he was chucking but he had a ton of TDs to help cancel the ton of TO he had. But this year, the TDs weren't there but the TOs remained making it a bad comparison. Eli used to be a good comparison, not anymore.

End of conversation. We have to keep this elite QB. Playoff wins are more important than every other statistic we have to judge a QB.

I want Sanchez gone because I'm tired of him being the face of the franchise. I'm tired of us having the worst quarterback in the league and being a constant joke because of it. He's terrible and nyj and Hobbes are not going to convince me otherwise. He doesn't deserve to start next year, and he most certainly does not deserve a job.

Nyjunc: How do you feel about the buttfumble in which Sanchez said 'I forgot the play'. Seriously. BASIC quarterbacking skills, and he can't even remember a fucking play. Is that the kind of person you want to lead the team you love so much? A person who can't be half-assed to remember a fucking play he got less than 20 seconds ago?

You do realize that the replacement was a 7th round draft pick making his very first NFL start right? You think that might have had anything to do with him taking double digit sacks? Peyton wouldn't have taken double digit sacks, and he would have made plays with Kerley, Edwards, Gates and even Schilens.

Different team, different situation. Exchange Manning for Sanchez in our first game against NE and we win. We win in week 15 against the Titans. We win agasint Buffalo in week 17. You can pick one from SD, Sea, Hou and that is 4 games.

Manning took a Broncos team that won 8 games with a bad QB the year before and won 5 more games. Considering how poorly Sanchez played and how great Peyton is, we easily win 4 more games which puts us in the playoffs.

That entire game was an embarrassment, O, D, STs, coaching, ... The entire year was an embarrassment for mark and the O but that doesn't mean you give up on a guy that has proven he can play.

We are all entitled to our opinions, you gfuys don't like him, I do.

I don't know if he said "I forgot the play", I think he said something simialr but I wouldn't read too much ito that as he always takes the blame whenever something goes wrong. he's not the type to throw a teammate under the bus.

So what? the point is it was obvious we didn't have receivers to throw to.

Again, peyton w/ much bettr weapons threw 2 INts for Tds and took a safety against SD this year but w/ our talent he was going to magically make us a contender!

How do you know we come back w/ Peyton? AGAIN, on the same field w/ MUCH more talent he was awful against NE and his team got crushed. Sanchez at least got us to OT.

Manning took a team that was 6-3 their last 9 games of 2011, WON a playoff game and made the div rd. The division was awful, the sched incredibly weak and he couldn't even win a single playoff game despite a bye and home game.

There's no way we win 4 more games w/ any QB.

Not when he's obviously regressing. At that point, you give up on him.

And he did say he forgot the play. Straight from his mouth. He's not throwing anyone under the bus, he's just that stupid. I don't want an idiot leading my team as a quarterback. Sorry, but I don't.

the thing is that he never has never proven he can play well. he has proven he can play, but never well and with heavy responsibility placed upon him.

the replacement took that many sacks because he didnt understand how to manuever in the pocket and had a case of the happy feet. he ran himself directly into at least 3 sacks by leaving his pocket.

At a certain point you just have to look at what the guy has done and come to the logical conclusion that things aren't going to get better for him on the Jets. He may have some play in him elsewhere in an organization that doesn't have high hopes for him and that recognizes that he needs real help to get over the top.

Even if the Jets are now that organization with the changes in the front office and coaching staff it probably doesn't matter at this point. There's too much water under the bridge for him and the players and fans at this point. He won't get the leeway that any player needs to make a big mistake now and then and come back and recover from it. He has no big mistakes left in the bank with the fan base and probably not in the locker room either.

Keeping Sanchez is basically asking him to be perfect after he's been bad for so long. A good organization never asks anybody to do something they can't do.

JUNC ... that's exactly what you don't seem to get. He's never PROVEN to anybody he can play. All we saw were some small glimpses a few years ago that provided some long-ago extinguished hope. PROVING you can play in this league, means showing up week after week and performing your job at a high level. Have we seen him do that?? If you think the answer is yes, you're residing on you're own planet.

The fact is, all the evidence strongly shows that he CAN'T PLAY. And by evidence I mean EVERY SINGLE MEASURABLE by which QB play is evaluated by every coach, scout and GM associated with the NFL. That's right ... believe it or not, there are actual standards by which all QBs can be evaluated and rated in relationship to one another. And because of that, nobody wants to listen to some arbitrary, unscientific nonsense about how Sanchez is secretly a clutch play-making winner when he has to be.

An actual record of his play exists. HIS PLAY. Not the play of others around him. A record of how he comes out week after week and performs at his position in comparison to every other player at that same position.

The record is clear ... it's horrendous ... and it's there for everyone to see. The only thing he's PROVEN in four years, is that all his measureables constantly fall at the bottom of the league. Indisputable. End of story.

Have you ever played football? Forgetting a play happens to the best of them a dumb reason to hate Sanchez.

The emotion on this topic has far out weighed any logic pages ago. Most Sanchez haters hated Sanchez from day one and now are just piling on. To say Sanchez has not shown moments of brilliance is disingenuous at best and revisionist history at worse.

Marks biggest problem this year was turnovers and not just INT the fumbles were worse. Then he lost his confidence and just blew chuncks at the end of the season.

To say a throwing QB like manning would have made things better I am not so sure. There is a reason he did not come here I am not sure any QB could have been successful.

With that being said this is it as an NFL QB you cannot lose confidence and survive in this league. He will get one more chance to show he can take the next step. He finally has an OC that has proven success in the NFL as an OC. He will hopefully get some weapons in the off season and other players will mature. I have never seen so many injuries to a WR core before.

Why the hate this kid has the ability lets give him a legit chance to prove it. Make sure we have a back-up plan because his leash will be short.

Flacco regressed in 2011, his 4th year in the league. Should Bal have cut him?

Eli has regressed numerous times, should the Giants have cut him?

Leaders accept responsibility for the failures of those around them. he may have been 100% at fault but he always takes the blame even when it isn't his fault.

You don't win 2 road games a year for 2 years w/ poor QB play. he's proven he can play, where his career has gone off course has more to do w/ the erosion of skill players on O.

That doesn't mean he's blameless b/c clearly he deserves a large share of blame but that also doesn't mean it was all him and that we should give up on him.

The real issue are the fans that don't know what they are watching, saying things like we'd have won 3-4 more games w/ other QBs. Those people did not watch the receivers this year.

Mark regressed in 2011, in 2012 he crapped in his pants and was in the top five worst QB's. Sanchez is not a leader, he's a laid back southern Ca. dude. He's not made for our type of team. He's a sulker but we are stuck with him in 2013. Very depressing. Sucks to be us.
