Turd McShart is probably the worst of any draft analyst that everyone knows. I think somebody must be getting on him for just parroting everything he reads on the internet and he's try to throw his own curveballs. Moore at 13? Are you kidding me? *Edit: Though I have to say, some of his picks mirror my mock that I posted quite a bit. Eeek.*
Wilson is very good, and has no problems with blowing up running plays. If he played at a big school, he could be considered best in class. JMO. Most tape I watched, he provided way too much cushion, and not very physical at the line. However, he is always at the ball.
As far as Jets are concerned, I like both picks. Jarvis Jones, Dion Jordan, Eric Fisher are the only selections Jets should be thinking about. Glad to see people are finally not mocking Mingo to the Jets.
I say we go with an elite pass rusher in the first round and dedicate our scouting effort to grabbing o linemen in rounds 2-4. There seems to be good depth in this draft for linemen and with a top ten pick we could get a stud that we desperately need
Can I get some clarification? I thought DeCastro was a once in a generation type of prospect last draft, now this Warmack kid is worthy of a top half of the 1st selection higher than DDC was? What's up, is this draft that weak? Or is Warmack really that much of a stud?
I don't think anyone thought DDC was a "once in a generation player". He was a solid OG that could have been drafted in the late teens, but fell, like most guards. Don't give up on DDC, he was out most of the season. Warmack is one of the best OGs in a decade, that being said he won't be a top ten player. This draft is nothing special in the top 20 picks, the draft's depth improves in later Rd 1 thru Rd 3...especially RBs, WRs, TEs & Safeties.
Wow those are both horrible... And they get paid for that??? Warmack behind Cooper? Geno out of the 1st? Ogletree in the top 10???? Mingo top 10 in both? Moore out of the top 10? Jeez. Thats bad. And btw, Quinton Patton is as good arguably as any receiver in this draft and if he made it to the 3rd he would be one of the biggest steals in the draft. I think he is a hard 2nd round player that could go as high as the late first and as low as the early 3rd.
Er once in a generation OG like Steve Hutchinson, I mean. But thanks for the insight! I'll keep that in mind as I watch the nikking unfold; it's an exciting list seeing as how the Jets could probably stand to gain in all four of those positions.
No QB is worth a 1st Rd grade, but we all know some team will reach for a couple of QBs in Rd 1. Kiper does his mocks based his value of a player in that Round. It's clears he doesn't rank any QB with a Rd 1 grade. I believe in trying to be the GM of a specific team when creating a mock and therefore I would have drafted at least one QB in Rd 1.
I think there are 3 QB's worth a 1st Round pick, Geno, Wilson and Barkley Guys are comparing them to 2012 which is unfair, those 3 guys are franchise QB's if you build around them and their strengths like all QB's should be handled
I agree, you can't compare the QBs from 2012, they are far superior to the 3 you mentioned, which effects their value. But you know some team will over draft a QB in Rd 1, it usually happens. I think the Bills may take Smith, they're looking for a new leader on their offense.
I know I feel like there's those 3 I mentioned who can be franchise QB's if you mold them and build around them Even if you over draft a player now the value is judged later on
You can look at value two ways: You have to judge value in relationship in setting your draft board, that is what I meant by value in the context of my quote. It's how Teams drafting a player value him over other draft prospects. This is still a somewhat subjective process from all the research , interviews, combine etc. Drafting players is a an art, not a science, one team values a player more than other. The value after drafting a player, which you mentioned, is the value that player is to your team by their productivity from particpating in the realm of the team. This is an objective process, since you know how well this player is producing for your team.
I don't understand this love affair with Mingo. Nothing about him but speed jumps out on tape. His arms are laughably skinny. At times he looks like he's absolutely swallowed up by any competent pass blocker. If the Jets take Mingo, man I hope I'm wrong. This guy has the look of Gholston and Maybin all in one. -X-
He's being labelled as a pass rusher, yet only had 4.5 sacks. Dion Jordan had 5 in one less game while doing a lot of different things rather than just speed rushing from the LDE spot.
