I predict that you'll flip your opinion much like your friend Mitt Romney flips his opinions this fall when you see how he plays with "a real OC" Junc will be harder to see the light though. In 2014/2015 when Sanchez is struggling to make the roster somewhere else he will still probably be bringing up those playoff games.
In a playoff game...given equal talent....I would. Manning has Consistently come up small without a distinct advantage. I'd take Eli over. Peyton in a playoff game, all other talent being equal. Peyton Manning is the quarterbacking equivalent, to Marty Schottenheimer. He will get you 12 wins a year, every year..but it's one and done in the playoffs. (and I know he won a super bowl, but he did it with MULTIPLE first round draft choices at skill positions....did we ever have Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison?, to help us get to a first round bye and a home game?) Oh, and PS in the game that Manning won? His ring.....the defense forced 5 turnovers....but he's great right?
this is amazing. i already know you will say i didnt say mark is better than peyton. but you are trying to bash the best qb to ever play at the same time you are praising one of the poorer qbs the jets have ever had. and you are doing that by comparison between the two. thats just absolutely fantastic.
That's the really bad argument that they make..no on is saying Sanchz=Montana...but the truth is, given his inexperience being drafted, and the lack of support...it's more probable that his upside is more likely his good games than his bad. Early on, his job was to bail the offense out, when the run game was putting them in bad situations.... Result 2AFCCG Next year they tried to lean on him, but as Beasts article pointed out,,,he did not have the reps to go there...Schotty gets the heave ho and (by Westhoffs comments) the offense was a mess under Sparano, then the myriad injuries, and it's all Marks fault. The Jury is out on Sanchez, given all those factors. But, considering them honestly, says...the bashers are wrong.
Peyton Manning, is not Joe Montana. Manning is the Best stats compiler. Joe Montana, then Brady, are well ahead of Manning. Both are products of a system, but so is Manning. But the former haven't folded comsistemtly like cheap tents in the playoffs and have more rings. Manning is not the greatest to ever play the position. Heck, even Bradshaw rates ahead of Manning, he played before the Polian rule, as did Montana.
I wasn't bashing Joe Montana or Tom Brady, I was bashing the overrated Peyton manning who is not even in the discussion for greatest of all time. what is funny is that NE beat Indy 24-14 in the '03 title game then Indy complained and got the rule changed, the next year they go into Foxboro in the div rd and despite the new rule he leads them to 3 points:lol: Greatest of all time?
What's more amusing is a comment like that from a guy whose user name and it's he's a Patsy,,,,:rofl2:
How did he not have the reps to be leaned on in 2011? Two years of starting and three playoff games and he didn't have enough experience?
Troll all you want I'm done with your nonsense but don't use the article I posted to spread your lies. Dilfer was speculating when he said he didn't think they gave Sanchez enough practice reps. Dilfer was stating FACTS when he said "Mark's problem is that he misses gimme throws" Whether his speculation was wrong or right, any analyst would tell you that regardless of whether the team gave him the reps or not, it is Sanchez' fault for not hitting easy throws consistently after 4 years in this league.
 HOLY SHIT!!! You would take Mark Sanchez over Peyton Manning?? Did you actually write that sentence? Was it written at gunpoint??
Sanchez is still a mystery to me. I don't think it was a fluke that he performed very well in the post season. He's still got the #6 spot of all time in post season QB rating. It's silly to discount our defense and running game for those wins as well, because they definitely contributed. I believe that Sanchez CAN be a top 15 QB (ala Alex Smith) if he's surrounded by the right system, coaches and playmakers. Let's start with Schottenheimer. He ran our offense for 6 years and they were only above average once. In 2010, they had the 11th ranked offense. They were 16th (average) just once, and other than 20th or worse. Average offensive rank under Schotty. 20.5. That's bad. The rams were ranked #23 this year. Next we have Matt Cavanaugh. The guy has never had QB coach experience before coming to the Jets. He's been offensive coordinator and assistant offensive coach on some VERY poor offenses (besides a brief one year stint with the niners), and we bring him in for the sole purpose of developing Sanchez. He fails, no surprise. Sanchez still makes fundamental mistakes. Either Sanchez just can't get it or the QB coaching has been abysmal, but considering mistakes are usually a biproduct of coaching, that's probably part of it. Next, Tony Sparano. A big G&P advocate and alleged WC mastermind. Unfortunately he sucked at both this year, and while it wasn't completely his fault with Holmes & Keller going down, he would constantly have pass heavy game plans despite Sanchez being in the biggest slump of his career and our WRs being injured. Bad offensive plan for a QB like Sanchez. It worked in the Bills game, who had a very bad secondary and that's pretty much it. Now we move onto Sanchez himself. A turnover machine 3 of 4 years in the league. His best success undoubtedly came in college, where he ranked #6 (in 1-A) in QB rating and #9 in passing TDs. He had 35 TDs to 10 picks (3.5 to 1 ratio). He played in the WCO style and it seemed to suit him well. In the NFL he has ranked under 20th every year. His best year for QB rating was 2011, where he ranked #23. Perhaps the WCO is exactly what we need. This year we finally have a competent OC that actually has experience running it successfully. We have a QB coach that has A LOT of experience and has done it before. The one thing we are still missing is offensive playmakers. We have one in Holmes. We need one in the RB core. The one thing we have done correctly this year is brought in experienced coaches, rather than unproven up & comers. Schotty was a QB coach before coming to the Jets, he had never been an OC prior. Sparano had very little OC experience as well. It seems like it would have been more favorable to make Schotty QB Coach and Cavanaugh OC, but hey, it's the Jets. I get good vibes off these new coaches, and still hold onto hope that they can turn this team around. They will undoubtedly play a big role. Now it's up to the GM to get us some talent and fix the cap.
Bizarro Big Blocker says what? It's funny, you both go after hopeless arguments like you are starving and they are table scraps. Sanchez has been injured since mid-season last year. I know this. But it has also fractured his ability to play the position. Because he refused to get that stinger situation remedied surgically. Probably for vanity reasons. What we have is a semi-talented QB who once had a decent head on his shoulders, who has lost anything resembling clutch and throws the ball like he's got a cluster of stingers in his throwing arm. A) There's no way that this can clear up in a season B) There's no way that the Jets can wait for this to clear up C) There's no way that Sanchez learns a new offense while rehabbing if he does get the surgery (and he won't) D) There's no way that a new GM is going to bother taking Sanchez seriously as an option for the future But you can go ahead and make your futile arguments. But if you keep on this path, I will be one of the people that drops a corn-filled turd on your concession speech when he is cut or traded.
I just want to start here. So we need to give Sanchez a top run game, top OL, a top 15 RB and top 15 TE and combine that with a great defense and he will be fine? If we wait for all that, that means Sanchez is here 2-3 more years. The hope is we can get by with a couple units not being top notch because our QB doesn't need top notch everything. That's the thing, most QBs in this league could be "top 15" if you put them on a SB team and told them not to screw anything up. The next step that you need from a QB is to be able to allow deficiencies in an area here or there and have them overcome that. The really great QBs can do this consistently regular season after regular season. If we are going to load this team back up to be elite everywhere, it's probably to do so with a new QB, someone who can protect the ball much better than Sanchez can. I do agree the WC might spark something and that Schotty was never a great influence. As Bart Scott described it, it was a bag of plays and Schotty seemed to grab randomly at the plays inside of it. It will be interesting to see how Sanchez looks. If he gets the basics fixed, we could tread water with him for a couple years. If he makes a jump even better. But the GM should not count on this, hence the competition and probably looking for a veteran QB.
Flip ? My opinion is that Nacho has been a consistent playmaker in big spots with a consistency problem, and that the jury is out on his Sunday to Sunday basis, until we see what a real OC can do with him. So, if MM can work him out great, but of he can't then we have a Gholston problem. All things being equal ill bet on the former, but go back and read my posts...I've been very consistent in saying, the jury is still out It's you bashes that are going to be in danger of reversing course.
What's the injury Byz? The only injury has been organizational... If he neded medical work, it would have been as extensively reported as Arods PED rumors. But hey, fantasy makes a nice argument. Funny how everyone (including me) was down on Schotty... Then we had a slew of injuries this year...(how did he play with a healthy cast week 1?) and the season went to shit... Yeah it's all on Sanchez.
No doubt. Bringing in competition is a good thing. The Jets supposedly really like Nassib, so he may be in the mix, and even if he doesn't play much in the first year, this will unquestionably be Sanchez' last year if he doesn't step it up big time. I wasn't saying that Sanchez needs elite talent on every single level, just get him a few play makers besides Holmes instead of the revolving door its been over the past 4 years at WR, RB and on the line.
