Hmmm I don't like the sound of that. We need to break this team down, not add on more bloated contracts after restructuring his contract.
i think you gave a fair assessment earlier in one of your posts. he was serviceable and coddled and he made a bunch of rookie type mistakes but he didnt necessarily suck. some thought he had a high ceiling and some thought he still had a low ceiling but he was not downright terrible in 2010. 09 he was pretty bad, but he was a rookie and thats to be expected. now he is terrible. i feel as though his ceiling is very very low even lower than i did in 09 and 10. i get annoyed when some posters look back on 09 and 10 and use that to say how great he was and or could be. he was a middling qb in 2010, he was a rookie in 09, he is absolutely fucking terrible now.
if it means he will be here longer i am completely against it. if it means we can cut him sooner i am absolutely for it.
What you want is a treadmill team, not one that's built for long term success. Unfortunately we've seen this act played out far too many times and already know how it ends. Not good.
I ignored the NE game because I don't disagree that Sanchez played well in that game. However, trying to pretend that he played well in the Indy game is ridiculous. You and JUNC really need to stop with this nonsense about him beating Manning and Brady. He had a 62 rating, threw a Red Zone INT (his specialty), and led us to 17 points. He didn't play well. Those are the facts, but don't let them get in the way of your headline -- SANCHEZ OUT-DUELS MANNING. But that's not even the point. The point is, the guy has proven to be a horrible QB by every way QB play can be measured for the past four years. You try to ignore those numbers and use 4 games out of a 68 game career to argue that he isn't horrible. A completely ridiculous argument. If he was a good player, you guys would have a little more to fall back on aside from pointing to 4 playoff wins where he was asked to do very little, and conjuring up reasons to explain away the fact that his numbers suck and he's constantly ranked at the bottom of the league. The reason he's at the bottom of every measurable statistic is very simple --- HE'S NOT A GOOD PLAYER. Why can't you just accept that? And for the record, there's a very good reason why Sanchez has so many spirit killing Red Zone picks. When you get into that area, the field shrinks and the windows get very small. You better be an accurate passer, and we all now he's the least accurate QB in football. Here's the bad news for you ... he's not going to miraculously turn into a marksman just because you want him to.
17 was more than the great Peyton manning led his team too, right? did he not lead us to a chip shot FG at the gun for the win? he struggled in the first half where he threw one of his 3 career postseason INts but he bounced back and when we needed him most he came through unlike the all time great on the other side of the field who failed yet again to deliever when it mattered most. Keep yuor QB ratings, the lower rated QB came through while the higher rated one did not.
Wouldn't restructuring push more money to further year later? Make it harder to on cap in future years?
I agree that he was middling in 2010 but he showed flashes. We got some of the better of the flashes in the start of 2011 and then it all came crumbling down.
Didn't Peyton Manning win a Super Bowl? Let me let you in on a secret ... You know how you get 12 post season losses and one ring? You do it by leading your team to the playoffs 13 times. if you think that Sanchez is somehow more clutch than Manning, I don't know what to say. Give my regards to the folks on Pluto. But anyway ... you just made my argument. Yes, the 17 points we scored was more than Peyton led his team to. THANK YOU, JETS DEFENSE for winning the game for us.
He did, in a postseason he threw 3 TDs and 7 INTs, in a postseason where he won a game despite not leading his team to a TD. Again, peyton on average has led his team to under 15 PPG in the other 10 playoff losses- 17 is more, right? The Jet D played a great game and the O led by mark finished it off capping off 17 2nd half pts w/ a chip shot FG at the gun. In a similar spot(but at HOME) in 2005 Peyton couldn't get it down vs. Pitt. has mark been shut out in postseason? Peyton has, has he led his O to 3 pts? peyton has. We know Mark is nowhere near Peyton manning as a QB overall but in postseason Peyton has choked far too often while mark has elevated his game.
You have lost your mind. That great "drive" sanchez lead the Jets to win it, consisted of him getting the ball close to midfield from Cromartie's kick return and completing his ONLY good pass of the day to Braylon. Literally one pass of note - that drive and that entire game. Manning didn't choke he just faced a much better defense. Swap Quarterbacks in that game making Sanchez face the Jets defense and Manning and the Jets win by at least 3 TDs...
so what? he still got us into chip shot range. peyton manning was given similar FP needing a FG to tie in the '05 div rd vs. Pitt and he failed despite having MORE time. Manning choked, he needed 1 first down to ensure we wouldn't have a shot. Den just gave Peyton TWO TDs on Sts and he still couldn't win, in his 11 playoff losses he las led his high powered Os to just 14.8 PPG so let's stop w/ the "change QBs" thing and they'd have won by 3 TDs stuff.
Junc, I'm sorry, but you are getting to the level of those Tebow lovers... You see what you WANT to see, not what is actually happening. You want Sanchez to be good so you'll ignore how he's actually playing to defend him. You don't like Manning so you'll ignore how he's actually playing to bash him. Stats matter - except when it goes against your argument. Teammates matter - except when it goes against your argument. Competition matters - except when it goes against your argument. I've seen this before in a subforum.. hmmm. Anyone who knows anything about football would take Peyton Manning over Mark Sanchez is any regular season game, in any playoff game, in any backyard game, in any thing ever associated with throwing a football ever.
Manning has consistently been the Marty Scottenheimer of the playoffs until they put enough around him to go all the way.....remember that 2002 41-0 choke job, yet a guy with a .666 career playoff average, and a 19-12 record after his first two years is garbage Lack of a cast, or Sparano has nothing to do with it. It will be amusing when MM gets results, and the bashes get on the bandwagon. In week one this year, with a healthy cast of talent he lit up Buffalo, when we've traditionally relied on pounding them with the run..... But.... He sucks. Then hill goes out. Holmes goes out...Keller goes out..so Sanchez sucks. Some great observation there.
I think you have us confused, I never say mark is anything more than what he is. I have never said he's great, never said he ever will be great. W/ you guys you blame him for every loss and you makes excuses when we win. The man led a last minute drive to set up a chip shot FG for the win on the road in the playoffs and you still bash him. at what point did I say I'd take mark over manning? the problem is you perceive my posts and don't actually read. Please try reading going forward.
No, you bashers are choosing to ignore reality. The entire supporting cast except Kerley went out early this year, under a bad OC. Hill makes a catch against NE, that hit him in the hands and this is a different season. And we all said Schotty sucks even when the team was winning . Injuries, a bad OC, and now Sanchez sucks? Great logic.
