If he was available with our 2nd pick, would you draft him and convert him to a safety? I love the idea of a safety with great cover skills and the versatility it would lend our base defense.
I'd be very surprised if he makes it past 20, let alone all the way to 40. I guess with Trufant playing like a stud at the senior bowl if someone really falls in love with Poyer, it could happen. But it's a slim, slim chance. I think you'd be better off with Amerson as a safety conversion, and more likely to get him since he started off as a safety. They're both big guys, though.
