The devils aren't going anywhere. Another incomplete game. Rangers are in trouble. Mark it down. Our battle for the 8 seed begins.
Chill. The Rangers are now 4-5 in their first nine games. That's an improvement over last year where they went 3-6. They then went 12-2 in the next 14 so let's see what happens now
Hey I'm just calling it like I see it. The top 4 teams already separating themselves. The rangers struggling to score and hank not making big saves. All equals trouble in my book.
The power play is very alarming.other than that, nothing to get all worked up about. Rangers played like vagina in the 1st but played pretty well after that. Not concerned about the top teamsseperating themselves for two reasons. 1) I believe the Rangers will be in the top halfof the conference 2) I really dont give a shit about being a 1 or 2 seed. Gimme a 6, I dont care. Season starts in the playoffs all over again
1) This is a very ordinary team w/o its heart and soul, Cally and Girardi. 2) Decline the PP's or trade for a PP QB, Christ enough already, 8 minutes of PP in 1st period and nothing. 3) Delzotto is driving me to drink giving the fuckin' puck away in our zone, poor Staal 4) Bad giveaways on 1st 2 goals but a great goalie stops at least one...sorry Hank
Same recipe for failure like last years playoffs...can't believe they struggle so much to score, force the play, its called forechecking...wake up Delzotto or trade him for a PP QB...had enough of his giveaways, I guess he will never develop a defensive side
I am honestly thinking Rangers might not make the playoffs. I know the season is only 1/4 through, but they look god awful. They can't even string together two wins. I think they Islanders embarrass them tomorrow night. The Devils had more shots then the Rangers did on there own PP, and they had a 4:00 min PP. Devils get a PP and score just a few seconds in.
Fair point about the heart and soul of this team, but this team has more than enough talent to at least be competitive without them. I think what is really scary about the power play is that people forget just how bad it was last year. So in the offseason, the team adds Nash for even more offensive firepower, and the power play is even worse?!?! At what point will Tortorella be held accountable for the lack of performance from the power play? Can someone please explain to me why the Rangers have Del Zotto of all defensemen on the Power Play with four fowards? Why isn't Staal in this role? Lundqvist's play is becoming the elephant in the room.
It might be a good time right now to remind everyone Glen Sather has been here for over a decade and not won anything.
I'm not making excuses for Hank because this is clearly as poorly as he's looked in a long time (ever?). But Henrique's goal was a rocket in the top corner. That's not a goal that goes on any goaltender. He wasn't exactly amongst a crowd in front of the net when he let that one rip either. Clarkson's first one escapes me right now, but his second one he actually shanks. A friend of mine, Devil fan, watching with me even mentioned if Clarkson gets all of that shot Lundqvist probably makes the save. But it was a change up, shanked shot that just fluttered over top. Hank's been a lot closer to ordinary than spectacular. No doubt. But the bigger elephant to me, bigger than the lack of scoring, bigger even than the anemic power play is how poorly the defense has been. So many breakdowns, so many bad giveaways in the neutral zone. And the D logically should have the most continuity. That's the part of the team that's largely unchanged since last year.
thats was also a 86 game season. Not much room for sucking this season. I did have a prediction at the begining of the year, the Rangers will get hot about half way through the season and it will carry them into the post season. I hope I am right.
Of course, but after 48 games last year the Rangers were first in the the entire league even after starting 3-6 http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=1318945 Jersey was 7th in the east and they still got to the SCF
