I get the love for Warmack and Bernard, but I really think Tavon Austin is a playmaker that could help open things up for other Jets. Hell, he even rushed for 344 yards on 21 carries against a pretty good Oklahoma defense this year. Yeah, it was one game, but the point is he can make plays with the ball in his hands, whether it's behind the line of scrimmage or downfield. In my opinion, he was the real star of the 2012 West Virginia offense, not Geno Smith (as an Iowa State fan, I follow the Big XII pretty closely). And to ice the cake, Dana Holgerson's offense is pretty horizontal, much like the WCO; Austin would be a good schematic fit. If he's there in the second round, he's a steal. It could be worth trading down in the first for an additional second round pick to go OL - RB - WR (in some order) in the first two rounds. That's pretty offense heavy for a Rex Ryan team and it would probably take Warmack and maybe Bernard out of the picture, but this team needs a talent injection on offense, and I think Austin is the best guy for the job.
If we don't end up with Bernard we could potentially grab Johnthan Franklin he is a little small but has very quick feet and can make people miss I seen him and UCLA play the screen and he was tearing defenses upswing Nebraska miss 5 tackles before going down he would be gone until 3rd - 4th round I believe he is a sleeper to most.
Really liking Franklin also. Showed good patience & an ability to make big plays in the open field. If Jets pass on him 3rd round I think they lose him. Assuming Giovani/Lacie is gone, he'd be my preferred choice.
I think between Randle, Franklin, Gilislee, Michael, Taylor & Jamison, there is going to be a RB drop to the 4th round. Any one of those guys would be solid fits and I wouldn't take a RB before the 4th because of the depth.
The Jets could use a two-way back and it's hard to see one of those guys dropping to the 4th. The WCO offense needs a guy with good hands who can also run the ball inside and pass-protect. You don't get that kind of guy late in the draft unless you are very lucky.
if we do a Revis trade aget a bunch of picks would anyone be opposed to a Bernard/Franklin combo? both are gret fits for WCO. Bernard late first or early second, Franklin in the third.
There were only 7 RB's taken in the first 4 rounds last year. I think as teams value RB's less and less, they'll continue to drop. Between those 7 that I named, plus Bernard, Lacy, Ball & Ellington, those are 11 guys. I think one of them drops and would be a good value pick.
