    Flacco did very little?

To quote you Junc "Flacco made plays to win the game" :breakdance:

Flacco threw for 287 yards and 3TDs. No INTs, no fumbles. He led his team to 27 points and multiple key 3rd down conversions on those drives. He escaped numerous sacks in the pocket and played a great game. He did a LOT to help his team. If you think about it, one turnover from Flacco and he's down late in the 4th quarter and not up. Great game from him. Maybe only 2 passes all night could have been picked, one from a Boldin drop.

Keep in mind that the receivers do not throw the ball to themselves.

Yes, and in the real world, QBs don't play perfect all game long in the SB let alone most playoffs game. You usually a "perfect" all around game from a QB in the first round of the playoffs or if a WC team pulls an upset. Besides, Championship/Super Bowl games, no QB usually dominates all game long.

He did very little after the great start and he would only have had 2 Tds if not for a spectacular play by Jacoby Jones(the real MVP).

an easy catch? it was like a punt return. That was an incredibly difficult catch and Flacco was running forward w/ momentum behind him when he badly underthrew the WIDE OPEN Jones.

No, Sanchez has been very good in postseason. he had a bad half or qtr here and there like any QB but he was very good. I didn't say Flacco sucked, I saud he had a good game overall but he didn't do much after the 14-3 lead and I include the long TD to Jones which was ALL Jones.

So you give Flacco credit for that awful throw?

Ahh the what if game. Junc only breaks it out when he wants to use but criticizes it when used against. Can't hold to his own standard of arguing.

Sanchez has been good in the postseason, Flacco while started rough has reached Sanchez's level then passed it by leaps and bounds. Also, that doesn't even take into the fact that Flacco helps his team reach the postseason to play in those games while Sanchez has had trouble doing that the last two years. Flacco is definitely a top 15 QB while Sanchez has regressed to a bottom 5 QB. That means there are at least 12 spots differentiating the 2 at BEST case scenario for Sanchez.

Junc it was not incredibly difficult. This is a catch that's not very difficult. You slow down turn, and catch it against your body. It's easy to mess up that catch because you can trip over your own feet while slowing down, but it's not a difficult catch. The most difficult catch was Boldin on 3rd and 1. Good throw, great defense, better catch. Now that's a difficult catch.

Joe Flacco threw the ball 50 yards on the run, unleashed a nice throw. It was underthrown, but it wasn't terrible by any means. And by all Jones, do you mean Jones threw the TD to himself? You have this thing where you must place all the blame or credit or one individual when rarely if ever this is the case. It makes your points weaker especially in a team sport like the NFL. To break down the Jones TD we should first start with the good blocking. The pocket collapse, but they had room for Flacco to step up. Good job by them containing the rush. Flacco then gets credit for being able to step up and unleash the throw while about to get crushed. He does underthrow it, but no clean pocket for him to step into. Good throw on the move. Then Jacoby does a good job locating the ball and slowing down and catching it. But we also have to credit Boldin on the great route to get the S to bite letting Jones go over the top. Without him beating the CB and being a key Flacco target, the S stays home on Jones. Flacco kept the ball down the middle of the field so Jacoby didn't have to dive or alter his route except for slowing down. Then Jones made a good juke, and not noticed, his WR did a good job slowing down some defenders with blocks letting him turn the corner into the EZ. Then credit Ray Rice I believe for understanding Jones was going to break out a celebratory TD dance and watching it and not ruining it by jumping on Jones.

Watching the TD again, Flacco didn't get a chance to step into the throw. He did throw it moving forward and if you watch, it's a lot of arm/upper body into this one.

Exactly. If we got more "Awfully thrown" TDs than awfully thorw INTs the last two years we wouldn't have missed the playoffs.

He doesn't have Jacoby Jones, Boldin, Smith, Pitta & Dickson instead he had kerley, Schilens, Gates, Cumberland, reuland.

Yeah, beating your man badly down field then having to stop, come back and catch a poorly thrown ball as a defender is bearing down on you is as easy a catch as it gets:lol:

    Flacco unleashed a nice throw?:eek:hmy:

Can you guys just admit it was a poorly thrown ball that Jones made an outstanding play on? It's not that hard.

we didn't have the ravens D in 2011 and we didn't have the stable of weapons Flacco has. if we did we'd have made it and made more runs.

No Sanchez doesn't, but that wasn't the point. A bad throw into triple coverage is a bad throw into triple coverage regardless of who is the receiver. I don't see why people can't understand that.

Junc it was underthrown we all said that. But it wasn't awful. For being on the move the throw could have been a lot worse. Have you not seen Sanchez play this year? Could the throw have been better, yes. But if it was a poor throw it wouldn't have been caught. It would been picked by Culliver. Have you tried both catching the ball like that and throwing like Flacco did? I don't think you have because you can't seem to appreciate it. That throw, while QBs make it look easy, is much much easier to step into, something Flacco couldn't do. If he tried to square and throw he was getting hit. Jacobey made a nice catch, it wasn't incredible and it wasn't very difficult. It's catch that's obviously a lot more difficult if a defender is in play, but he had a clean look at the ball the whole way down.

Jones had the ball in his sights for the 25 yard line. He had 15 yards to find it and catch it. Not that difficult. I would agree if Jacoby was running full sprint and came to an immediate stop but he had time to slow himself down and get under the ball, 15 yards so. The throw was on his own 40 to the 10 without stepping into it. Not many QBs can throw like that 50 yards, let alone 60. If Flacco was standing still and stepping into it, I see your point. But he was on the move.

really the difference between flacco and sanchez is, flacco might make a bad throw but it was just a bad throw on a good decision.
sanchez is usually a bad throw on a horrible decision.
a bad throw might get picked.
a bad throw on a horrible decision will probably get picked and might go back for 6.
you can live with bad throws they happen but decisions cost games.
    sanchez costs games

who was being triple covered this year? defenses could cover any of our receivers w/o help leaving the other Dbs to roam,

The Jones catch was a tremendous individual play after a terrioble throw. On top of the catch he gets up and makes another incredible play to score.

His momentum was carrying him forward, he wasn't flat footed, throwing off his back foot or stationary. An NFL QB w/ average arm strength(Flacco is above average) should be able to make a much better throw. I'm sure Flacco wanted that throw back. he got lucky Jones made an amazing play.

Flacco doesn't turn the ball over. 80 regular season games, 56 picks vs Sanchez 62 regular season games and 69 picks.

Flacco has thrown 12,12,10,12,12 INTs in his 5 years per season. Sanchez, 20,13,18,18.

    Per season INT% for Flacco, (# of times INT thrown per attempt) 2.8, 2.4, 2.0,2.2, 1.9. Sanchez, 5.5, 2.6, 3.3, 4.0.

Flacco protects the ball well and I mean who knows how many points that saves the opposing team form scoring and how many extra possession he got for his team by not turning it over.

Amazing that Sanchez lobbing it up for grabs to get PI to beat Denver is a great play by Sanchez but Flacco lobbing it up and the receiver actually catching it and scoring a TD is not.

35 seconds in. 4 defenders on the TE he overthrows for a pick. At 1:00 in, he has one on one coverage, lofts a ball to the TE that allows 2 defenders to swoop underneath the soft throw while the initial defender can make the play while the WR has no chance. That's one game, but 4 defenders bracketing one TE.

Flacco got lucky Jones made a catch? I agree the run after the catch and the TD dance much more impressive than the throw and catch itself. If the Ravens are down at the 10, the way they were executing the first half, that's still a TD most likely. The lucky part was the defender flying by and the feet not connecting with Jones allowing Jones to get up and not down by contact. If what Jones made is a "lucky" catch, then man you must think 50% of the catches in the NFL are lucky by your standards.

Junc if that's a terrible throw, then about 75% of the passes in the NFL are terrible by you standards.

    Hahaha good point.

I mean I agree it was under thrown, but it wasn't terrible or awful. It was underthrown and could have been better but it was still on target and let Jacoby catch with stretching out or diving. Jones had eyes on from the 25 yard line onwards. Meaning he had 15 yards to slow himself down with no sideline near him. It wasn't great, but man it wasn't awful. Awful is some of the throws Mark made this year, but according to Junc Mark and Flacco are the same besides weapons.

Jacoby Jones set or tied 3 SB records:

    most combined yardage
    longest play
    2 plays of 50 or more yards(tied).

    The man was robbed.

One was a 4th down play where sanchezx extended the play w/ his legs and gave his WR a chance to make a play, Holmes got BOTH hands on the ball even while his facemasked was being tugged.

The other was a 3rd and 10 w/ a WR 10 yds past the DB but I wouldn't expect you to see the difference.

It was a beyond awful throw.

Sanchez w/ these weapons would have been in the SB too. He never had weapons that good here and his Ds weren't as good yet he nearly led us to 2 SBs- do we forget this?

Exactly. At least let us be consistent here. Either take the position the QB "let his receiver make a play" or take the position that an underthrown ball is a poor play.

In b4 "that situation was different". Yes, we know all situations are different.
