Couple of guys that are starting to rise up some draft boards and both could be options at 9. Vaccarro definitely fills a need and has a skillset the team is definitely lacking but a safety in the top 10 is in the same discussion as taking a guard in terms of positional value. Patterson is interesting. I don't think WR is a huge need for 2013 but if Holmes isn't going to be around past this year it may be a good idea to get another playmaker at the spot.
You might have seen that I just posted an offseason where the Jets trade down and select WR Keenan Allen at #13... Taking a WR in the first is interesting and I'd certainly be open to it. It depends how the rest of the offseason (cuts, resignings, signings etc.) goes. Personally, I prefer Keenan Allen though. If everyone is healthy, the group of WRs aren't THAT bad, but there's still some question marks and I'd like to see another young guy added. I agree that Holmes should be let go as soon as possible, which will probably mean after the 2013 season. Vaccarro could be an option too as Landry won't be back and Bell doesn't have much left. It also makes me wonder if Josh Bush or Antonio Allen are ready to have bigger roles... I'd feel better about a safety or wide receiver in the first if there's a trade down involved.
I dont think any WR or Safety is is worth a top 15 pick... or even 20 for that matter. Vaccarro is good, but Warmack is elite so theres a difference there. I dont really see the fascination in Patterson also. I would much rather have Wheaton than him, or Quinton Patton. I think both Wheaton and Patton have better hands, run better routes and are more polished. I mean if we are going to reach on a player, why not Gio Bernard at 9? Fills more of a need and is equally talented as those two imo.
I'd only take a WR, RB, G, S, pretty much any other position other than OLB or QB if we trade back. What don't you like about Cordarrelle? He's a big, fast target with good hands and good open field running.
JMO, but both players are overrated. Patterson has NFL potential, but I haven't seen enough of a consistent performance to rate him as a top WR in this draft. Right or wrong, UT WRs have had more disappontments in the NFL. Vaccarro is just not a top 10 value. I think both of this players have a good rep spinning their value. Both are potential Rd 1 picks, but not top 10 consideration.
Bingo! Vaccarro is by far my favorite safety in this draft, but I would not touch him till the later first.
Would be a huge reach for either in my opinion. There are enough other safeties between elam, Reid, vacarro, rambo and others that we could get a good one later on in the draft. I'm all for revamping the offense, but I think OLB is a really good pick for use in terms of value and need at #9. Either of these guys could be available in the second come draft day.
Vaccaro doesn't sound bad... But maybe not #9 possibly if we have another round 1 pick other then that pick at #9 and go about our business unless we can get Gio while we are at it somewhere around pick 20
I'm intrigued by Patterson beyond the first round. Kid has incredibly active feet... looks like an NFL playmaker in the making...
Patterson with #9 pick in the draft? No way. This guy is making up nonsense for attention. If he has more predictions like this, I'd recommend you stop following him. Or just view his tweets as comedy version of draft news.
The only way you draft a player that high is if you KNOW that guy is going to be Ed Reed or Polamalu. Hell even both of those guys were drafted out of the top 15. You can find quality safeties later in the draft
I dont think Patterson would be a reach at #9... The guy can flat out play and is one of the best Wrs out of Tenn that weve seen for years. He is a player that gets open and once he get the ball gets Yards after the catch off his shear will. He will be something special in the right system. If he goes to Miami like some project he will be a problem to cover.
