Pretty self-explanatory. Figured it would help offset the extremely depressing thread about 'biggest disappointments'. For me, it was the fact that I was from NY, as well as loving how Rex Ryan (back in 2010) talked a lot of shit and backed it up. He definitely wasn't afraid to speak his mind and gave the team a lot of character. I fell in love with that and have been a fan ever since.
used to enjoy watching the 49ers back when I was young, but the NY Jets in 1997 were a sad team, but I found myself rooting for them anyway. Then came Curtis Martin, and that changed everything.
we were actually good in 1997, that was the rebirth under Parcells. We were 1-15 in '96. It was a family thing for me and despite all the pain I am happy. There have been so many great memories along the way, many of them spending time w/ friends and family going to games or watching at home. We'll appreciate a SB if we ever see one.
I always went with the lesser popular teams in the area. I became a Jets fan because the Giants were more popular, and a Nets fan because the Knicks were the IT team especially around that time when Ewing was still there.
Trust me you are way, way, way, way over estimating RR. He is a just a huge blowhard just like his dad & bro who BTW is right now out of work. After this season U will be jumping with joy when RR is canned by Woody after another losing season
96-97 same difference... I watched them when they were 1-15 :martin: Thank God. He's the best. I wouldn't have it any other way.
He didn't really back anything up. Other than the D and playoff runs, he guaranteed super bowls. We didn't even get to one. We fell short to even go twice. But anyway. I became a Jets fan because of my dad. I was born into this. The Jets are one of if not the biggest attachment I have that aren't my family or friends.
Born under a Bad Sign I was down since I began to crawl... If it wasn't for Bad Luck.... I wouldn't have no luck at all. They should substitute that for National Anthem, at Jets home games.
Joe Klecko... saw him in some movies as a kid and most of all in 1982 with the Sack Exchange. I always preferred Klecko over Gastineau who I thought was a showboating idiot. From the thrill of the 82 season and the Mud Bowl, I was hooked from that point on. There has been a ton of pain and some highlights since then. But for good or ill my son is already a Jet fan.
When I was a kid my grandpa gave me a Giants hat. For some reason I just didn't like it. Probably I didnt trust getting sports gear from a Yankees fan (thanks a lot dad for making me a Mets fan). I thought the Jets looked cooler so I decided to be a Jets fan. Of course I didn't know shit about football yet. haha.
My father. The funny thing is he said back in the 60s when he started to watch football he liked the Giants and then when Namath came along he started watching the Jets. The rest is history.
