THAT...was your biggest jet disappointment? Out of all the wonderful miserable things to pick from? We were toast this year from the starting gate.
Especially since that game more or less was the Super Bowl, there was no way they were losing to an Atlanta team they destroyed in the Meadowlands that year (and who got destroyed by Denver too in the SB). At least with the other AFC Championship game defeats, we wouldn't have been favored to win the SB but to me two years ago was dissapointing because we'd finally gotten over the Darth Vader hump and seemed to have buried the ghosts forever with that game, only to no-show in the first half the next week.
mud bowl... cleveland and neil odonnell just because nobody else said it. what a terrible free agent acquisition. you could say something about every first round pick by the jets from 82 to 93 other than al toon. there were some great ones... faurot, haight, vick, cadigan, mitchel, thomas, lageman... all of them sucked. some sucked and some were even worse!
This game changed my football life. I don't think I've ever allowed myself to feel close to a team since then. I did not like the hurt, painful feeling. I think since then, I totally expect the Jets to crash when it matters most. SOJ..
Maybe I'm an old darksider, but the Doug Brien game didn't hurt that bad. Plenty of worse moments. The Jets lost to a better team. If Big Ben wasn't a rookie it would've been no contest. Doug Brien shouldn't have been in that situation anyway if the Jets weren't playing "not to lose" and they would've gotten steamrolled the next week up in snowy foxboro.. It's not like Doug Brien cost this organization a SuperBowl appearance or anything. 1982 hurt... 1998 hurt.. 2010 hurt.
In hindsight? Mo Lewis breaking Bledsoe. In the moment? 1999 AFCC, and watching Vinny collapse the next year on a bobbled snap.
Elaborate on what? That New England game was par for the course for most of the past decade. There have been some serious let-downs for this team over the course of history. You just obviously have not been present for most of it. Edit: WOW! totally missed this post: Normally I give new fans some leeway, but since you have been such a condescending shit-face for your tenure here, why don't you go ahead and fuck off? You don't know shit.
Toughest loss at the time: Cle '86 in double OT Toughest loss looking back: Den '98 title game looking back we would have had a hard time in Den in the '86 title game and if we won NYG would have thrashed us. If we beat Den in '98 we are beating Atl and winning another SB
Ya know.... posts like this piss me off. I don't mind the language at all but have the same rules for everyone. I got banned for a month with no warning for saying "you're an idiot", meanwhile I can find a new post like this one everyday. Ill go with the Denver afccg game... then the last Jet game I went to was the next year opening day. I really thought we were gonna win the SB that year... I know there were games that made me more upset (losing to Tebow is up there) but for the most part my post-game rage has dulled my memory. Honestly being a mets fan was way worse for me because I was really into baseball as a kid. I got way more into football as I grew older.
What's your problem...? Just because I don't think Woody is an idiot, that Sanchez sucks, and that Rex is a good coach I should fuck off...? Ok. Why don't you try to talk with me again without cursing like a five year old. I will admit that I have cussed on here out of frustration (for some people thinking Sanchez is a great QB and all), but I don't think I have called anyone a condescending shit-face. But...whatever, I'm sure you'll be able to survive and have a fulfilling life with my 'shit-face' around here.
When have I been condescending? Not being so negative about everything with the organization? Or dispelling the notion that Rex is the grand-master czar of the New York Jets? Honestly, the only time I've been 'condescending' so to speak was in my conversations about Sanchez. Other than that, nothing I can recall. But, this thread is getting off topic. If for some strange reason, you want to talk about this more, just message me.
Above all, my biggest Jets disappointment has to be losing my Mezz Row 5 seats in what was possibly one of the last great football-viewing stadiums in the country, and then dealing with the subsequent Woody Johnson Fuckover of Season Ticketholders with Seniority while transitioning to the new, horrendously-designed Mausoleum Stadium. Games and huge season disappointments aside, that singular event has impacted me the most. Thirty years of punctually paying every repetitive losing season ticket invoice (plus cockamamie preseason games), only to be treated by the NY Jets like some kind of castaway.
