Facebook data mining based on people's likes put out the following. The Jets just have a tiny blip on Long Island. http://io9.com/5979818/nfl-fans-by-...low&utm_source=Socialflow&utm_medium=Facebook
That sounds about right - at least for now. Of course, the Shea and Hofstra effect will wear off, and pretty soon Nassau will probably be Giants country too. Edit: not that I think the sample of people who have "liked" a team on Facebook is necessarily representative of the population of football fans, by the way.
Jets are not popular right now, obviously. A lot of bandwagon fans everywhere, including on Facebook. Texans basically have nothing, though, because of the Cowboys.
funny how the blip of the Washington Foreskins turns out to be the 3rd most valuable franchise in the NFL
Up here its hopping on whoevers hot. Noticing a lot of Redskkn fans, shitload of Colts Pats and Cowboy fans too. Lots of Seahawk fans too as they are close and get regional coverage here, Raiders have a die hard core.
how so? do you think the giants fans suddenly became giants fans? the jets are not a well respected organization nationally. and are absolutely second class so far as fans are concerned in the tri state area. the jets are the little brother in new york, we have a smaller area on this map than the jacksonville jaguars because we have no national following and have big time organizations in our local footprint. the ONLY area we may have had a little more pull in would be southern california. with no team in la i understand the jets were on quite a bit in the la market a few years ago.
jeez the cowgirls really are americas team, there damn fanbase stretches far and long. its amazing what staubach did for that franchise in the 70s.
Looking at facebook to determine the amount of fans per team is silly. What's even more silly is looking geographically instead of looking at the numbers of people. NYC and Northern NJ are 2 of the most densely populated areas in the country. More fans in a small area. The Jets still sell more tickets, sell more merchandise and are more valuable as a franchise than 75% of the other teams in the league.
Look on this site and see how miserbale Jet fans, do you think they are "liking" Jets stuff on facebook? The Jets are the little borther when the Giants are winning and we are not, in '09 and '10 we ruled the area, in '11 the Giants took it back.
wow, cowboys own oklahoma. same with broncos and wyoming so the white counties indicate a general apathy toward football?
