http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...-tebow-trade-new-york-jets-my-idea-no-regrets This should put an end to the questions about what happened last season. Tannenbaum and Rex decided to go get Tebow. Sparano didn't know what to do with him and didn't have anybody else to help with that. Woody got caught in the crossfire, being widely blamed for what was obviously an iffy move at best, but stood behind his guys and the decision all season long as it went south. Tannenbaum got fired because when the owner is taking potshots for a move you proposed it had better work out. End of story.
That can't be, it was all Woody's idea to sell PSLs and steal attention from the Gianst as if any nitwit would buy a PSL b/c of Tebow and headlines in March can steal thunder from a SB champ.
good riddance. it's a team game. can't run an organization without getting everyone on the same page.
   The truth finally comes out. Funny how 75% of the fans here thought it was a pure PSL move by Woody, and people constantly laughed at me for saying there's no evidence whatsoever of that. Now Tanny admits it. I bet you guys will just say he's lying. What I really find interesting is that Sparano wasn't involved. I thought for sure he'd be a big part of the push for Tebow since he's a big advocate of the wildcat offense. Ah well. Crow is on the menu today. :jets: Did this come from Tannebaum today? Tebow denied that report so if they're referring to it, they might be dead wrong.
It's pretty convenient for all the blame to be put on somebody who's no longer within the organization. I've got a feeling if Tanny was still GM then the Tebow acquisition would be viewed as a group decision.
Tanny took the wrap....He said if you read it, that they sat down and discussed it but he had final say on the move. End of story.
Tannenbaum always bullshits during interviews, I don't see how this changes anything at all. Tannenbaum took the fall. Tannenbaum is not an idiot, he may of dicked around the past 2 off-seasons, but he's no idiot. I'm not falling for this.
Been saying it all along in the thread where Woody said the move was forced on him. It was obvious that this was just a trade that didn't work out if you really analyzed. Can't wait to hear all the excuses from the people who still think Woody actually makes personnel moves for us.
A former employee not bashing his owner in a workspace that has 32 jobs and the owners pick those people. Well if what he says "ultimately it was my decision. I've always said that." is true, then good thing we parted with him. His moves the last few years have been suspect and his drafting has been subpar.
Yes because it's way more logical that the guy who JUST GOT FIRED by Woody would lie to defend him. I guess some people will just never admit defeat, no matter how ridiculous it is. Wait our GM made the final decisions on personnel moves? NO WAY! IT'S THE JETS, EVERYTHING'S DOOM AND GLOOM. IMPOSSIBLE!!! TICKET SALES. ARRRRRRRG!
I did read it & it seems to me Tanny is doing what any unemployed GM should do. He's giving statements that does not leave his previous employer & co-workers in a bad light. Not saying the article has to be false. But I'm just a little skeptical here. There's only 32 employers in the NFL. It's extremely unlikely any sane person is gonna point fingers at others after being fired.
he could have easily said absolutely nothing and don't see how saying this helps him or hurts him...i wouldn't look too much into it. he took the wrap for it...nothing more to see. the way it helps if anything is that he is being accountable and putting his name in the news at the same time.
Why did he say anything to begin with? Why take the interview after getting fired a few weeks earlier? Nobody does that dude. Like Kurt said, he took the fall. Someone's gotta do it. here's some hush hush money to take the fall
No reason for Tannenbaum to still defend the Jets considering the just fired him. He's probably telling the truth.
You quoted me right before I edited it again, sorry about that. I'm skeptical because there's only 32 employers & Tanny's odds of landing another NFL executive job really go down if he's pointing fingers at anybody in the Jets organization right now. ******* Don't get me wrong, I wanted the Jets to replace their GM. Was also upset at Tebow trade before season even started.
Nowhere in the story does it say for Rex to get Tebow. Rex wanted a running QB to replace Brad Smith, Tanny hatched up the idea to get Tebow. Obviously it made some sense at the time because Tebow does run w/ the football, but nowhere does it say Tebow was on the top of Rex Ryan's list as a replacement for Smith.
It says Tannenbaum hatched the idea while sitting with Rex in the airport. If Rex had wanted to shoot it down all he had to do was say "bad idea" at that point and he'd never have heard Tebow's name again from Tannenbaum.
