Idzik lands a solid right to Boomers jaw..."boomer, you've experienced the difference between perception and reality" :rofl2: Liking this guy more.
spoke with Rex throughout the interview process (hmmm that's interesting, head coach running the show?) OK with Mornhinweg Spoke with Revis and thought the conversation was well received by him Hasn't made a decision on Sanchez, asking fans to bear with us Any moves will be well thought out Build the team any way you feel you can get better, the draft will be important Talking about being a personnel director very extensive amount of football knowledge talks about his experience of doing a lot of things as being an advantage We're doing this as a unit, it's not just me. A collaborative effort. His job is to provide a direction. It's a Jet decision. Rex has extraordinary traits as a head coach. He's really excited to work with Ryan and his staff. Boomer pressing him on would you hire Rex Ryan as your head coach. Idzik says absolutely. Gives a PC answer. He has a really good feeling about the people in the building. Very excited about the franchise, doesn't see it as a circus. Who wouldn't want to come here? Spoke with Sanchez. Mark is ready and wants to get going with new coordinator. He's comfortable with Mark Sanchez. But says he is comfortable with him being a NY Jet. (Doesn't say starter) He told Mark competition with be brought in and will have to compete. We're going to be an aggressive energetic constantly improving team. Sustainable success over a long period of time. Asked about getting a Mark Sanchez tattoo and he says he has no ink. I thought the most important thing he said was at the end when said sustainable success over a long period of time. Meaning he is thinking long term instead of the short term philosophy of Tannenbaum. Well that's good. Otherwise he's a bore and didn't give much.
thanks for the summary major. like the bit about him being a bore. exactly what this organization needs more of.
haha, who asked him if he was going to get a sanchez tattoo? boomer and cartin have grown on me, i couldnt stand cartin when they started but they are pretty damn funny together.
Tanny used to preach long term success too. All while seemingly having no plan other than to blow it up after 2012.
From my experience good managers are not spectacular. They are pragmatic and calculative, i.e. boring. Boring is good.
Boomer just admitted on the radio, that the level of variables Sanchez has been under for the last 3 years have made it impossible to be successful.
of course it has, anyone looking at the situation logically can see that. I undrestand as fans we are more emotional than logical so I understand the outcry against him but he hasn't been put in a good situation the last 2 years.
Did he really ask the fans to "bear with us" regarding Sanchez? If so, that's far from a ringing endorsement of him. This is stating the obvious but I'm a little surprised that he would say that publicly about him. I guess I'd have to see the interview to hear the manner in which he said it.
It will all depend on who has the power within the organization. Will Idzik have the balls to stand up to Rex when it comes to player personnel? Head coaches will always think short-term if left to make the decision.
Yes, but it was more in terms of right now we're still evaluating coaches and other things and we haven't yet begun to break down the roster. I guess he was asking for the fans to be patient while they go through the process of evaluating the entire franchise. He spoke with Mark and said that competition will be brought in and will have to compete, just like everyone else on the roster.
See my post above. Boomer who has been bashing him relentlessly, admitted on the air...that he could never be successful given the lack of offensove coordinator skill, and after months of bashing reiterated it again, an hour later.
So Boomer attacks Mark Sanchez, yet comes out and says this? Doesn't make any sense. Don't back-track your statements now Boomer
You know that feeling you get when you watch Tom Coughlin interviewed? Same thing with Idzik. Quiet competence, not flashy, looking at fundamentals. I really like the hire.
Well I'm much more interested in what Idzik has to say than Boomer. It sounds like Boomer is backtracking a bit off earlier statements regarding Sanchez not like it really matters either way what he thinks.
