Tampa needs a CB, they could take the chance and use the 13 on Milliner but Revis is a proven commodity, it is worth it to give up the #13 and a third or more to get Revis. They also have the cap room to do it.

It's not a direct skill to skill value comparison. Yes, it is highly unlikely that any first round pick will be as good as Revis. However, a first round pick is stuck under a five-year deal at a fraction of the cost of Revis. A first round pick is five years younger and doesn't have the question mark of the ACL.

Nnami was 5 year, 60 mil, 25 guaranteed contract.
    That's a 12 mil avg..

If i had to guess, 5 year 67.5 mil, 30 guaranteed would get it done.
13.5 mil avg. That 30mil guaranteed would have to sound nice to anyone who just went thru a major injury.

When Revis looks at what the top D players are getting he is going to want to be up there and $14-$16 mil is that number. I don't think he signs for any less than $14 unless a boat load is guaranteed and it is long term. This is going to be his big payday contract and he will hold out for every last dime he can.

Can I ask a question that may have been asked already? For our cap gurus, why can't they cut a deal in the 6 year $60 million range, all guaranteed?

I mean the contract that Revis is going to be demanding which is (based on past experience) going to be very high, with a lot of guarantees.

I wasn't suggesting that you were referring to Cousins, I was simply agreeing that unless you were getting someone young at the QB spot with a lot of promise then I wouldn't want a meh back-up QB to form part of the compensation.

Because that first round pick that isn't as good as Revis is also only likely to cost around $2-3m a year (for the next 4 years!) compared to the $10 - 15m that Revis will be demanding.

No D player outside of DE's have seen greater than 12 mil..
It's a different position and a different market. Chris Johnson thought he should be among league MVP pay, but no one else saw it that way.

Revis will end up highest paid DB ever, but not highest paid D player in league.
I agree though, the guaranteed money is what will get it done. 30mil is like hitting the lottery. Gambling on playing this season for 6 mil w/o any lottery winnings in the bank would be a crazy risk for him.

Another good take, and it's why the Jets should deal him ASAP.

He's my favorite Jets player ever.

But get as much as you can for him, or it will be another crippling and embarrassing situation for this team.

He's all about business, now he will find out that the Jets are, too.

Which is why I said you ship him to the worst place possible.

A crappy team, or a heavy offensive team that's a couple years away.

You ship him to the best offer available. Out of conference.

Your post is easy evidence of why you have a personal issue in this argument.

I say we trade Sanchez to a Canadian team.

why? if it is business you send him to the team that makes the best offer. you need him to be ok with this too since he needs to agree to a contract.

trying to send him to a bad team out of spite is not a good way to conduct business

I just hope if they move him, get back more than a 1st, and send him to an NFC team.

    Not a personal issue.

You need to make the organization secure from such behavior in the future.

Like the steelers shipping out Holmes for free.

    Steelers. Holmes.

As a business you need to make it clear..,,,that certain behavior gets....rewarded....so to say.

It's been a personal issue for a while. Easy to see, actually. That post was just evidence of it.

Holmes is a bad example. They shipped him out because of bad behavior that was obvious, but the Jets bit anyway.

Revis is the best defender in the league, his only bad behavior involves contract negotiations.

Send him out of conference to the best bid and help your own team.

Santonio is such a headache that they gave him away for free.

I have heard this a couple times but just can't beleive it would happen Revis to the chiefs for the #! pick then we could take Demonster and Waarmack with our two top 10 picks

    Thoughts?

Why would a 2-14 team want a $14-$16 million CB? This is the team that let Brandon Carr leave because he was too expensive. They aren't even close to being competitive. They are looking for their QBOTF and instead they are going to get the most expensive CB in the history of the NFL and another year of Cassel and Quinn? The fans will burn down Arrowhead.
