This is true. If the Jets can't resign him in 2014, they can't recoup ANYTHING back that could possibly be positive. Therefore, they have to realistically look at this scenario and figure out what is best for the team. If someone is willing to deliver a Hershel Walker deal onto the table, they will be forced to consider it. Revis is one of the best players I have ever seen. However, you need pieces around you that will culminate team success. Has Revis alone garnished the Jets a Superbowl? Has having Revis shut down the Patriots twice a year? Like Idzik said, you have to deal in reality not perception. We can't perceive that having the best defensive back in football is going to bring us to the next level without proper supporting pieces. Sadly, I wish this wasn't the case.
Arizona? Their QB situation was worst than the Jets. Ryan Lindley is the worst QB in the history of the NFL. He makes Sanchez look like a combination of Joe Montana and Dan Marino. The Jets and Arizona game had the worst QB play in the history of the NFL.
I didn't say it = I didn't say it. "I don't know where that came from" = I forgot who I told it to. "I don't know where that came from"=I said it off the record. "I don't know where that came from"= I thought I said it off the record. "I don't know where that came from" = It didn't leak it who the F did?
Yes they have reportedly showed interest. I would take Sherman in a heart beat and Flynn plus a pick. Flynn knows how to run the WCO, which is what we need
Sherman/Cromartie would be a filthy tandem for us. Sherman isn't Revis, but he has proven himself this season.
Revis is great. Sadly for him, he is a great CB. He needs to grasp that reality. Gilbert was a 30 snap a game defensive lineman. Revis defends. 8 passes a game. That's not 10 % of your cap.
Why would they trade Sherman + something for Revis? Wouldn't the point be to team Sherman and Revis up for a chance to win it all?? Sherman is close to Revis' abilities anyway, younger, cheaper, and not hurt.
You could have had a halfway decent post without that first paragraph. With that first paragraph, you made anyone reading it dumber.
Yes, everyone is now on the " but he's not Sanchez "short bus.. Flynn,Moore,Jackson....are you joking?
We whiffed on a guy with four road playoff wins, playing for two of the most inept OCs in the sport... Interesting insight.
There is no way, especially at this point, that the Jets re-sign Revis before he tests the market. And when he tests the market, with the Jets having a new cap-conscious GM, there is no way they can keep him. Most of us know how good he is, but you are not taking into account his contract situation when you judge his trade worth. Revis with two years left, a no-franchise clause and his history of hard contract negotiations, is not worth four first round picks. Even as good as he is. And I know how good he is. He's likely the best corner of all time, and the best defensive skill player in the league today. If the Jets get two first rounders with his recent knee injury, they are raping the fuck out of their trade partner. Likely, it will be a nicely positioned first rounder and a combo of players and mid/lower round picks. That is still good value when you take the situation into account. You can't judge trade value in a vacuum.
