The D got us to those title games. I am looking at Sanchez stats, even with the right pieces hes turning the ball over 18 times in a season. Flacco is light years better then Sanchez, just look at his stats.
Nothing pisses me off more then Sanchez throwing the ball up in the air on the way down when hes getting sacked.
Two years ago, sure Flacco and Sanchez are close. But Sanchez removed himself from the discussion. Even on Flacco's worse days, he can't throw the ball, but he can protect it more often than not. But protecting the ball is something you have to do regardless of talent around him. Not throwing into triple coverage is something you shouldn't do regardless of talent. Throwing behind receivers is something you shouldn't do regardless of talent. These are basic things Sanchez failed to do for 1.3 or 1.5 years now. He needs a refresh and maybe this offensive system is that refresh. If it works, we finally caught a break. That's what I'm hoping. The problem with our WR/QB combo was combined inconsistency. Inconsistency has plagued Sanchez's career, even in his playoff games. Then you throw in the inconsistent rotation of receivers, when the receivers ran good routes and were open, Sanchez couldn't consistently hit them. When Sanchez was crisp, the receivers couldn't get open or make plays and catch the ball. Combine the two and we saw last year.
That's a big IF, I don't have faith in Sanchez. I don't think he can turn it around he's not smart enough.
The D was key to making it but w/o quality play from mark sanchez we do not. look at how many "great" QBs struggle in postseason even w/ good defenses. Flacco was considered a bum by most fans a month ago, now he's great b/c of 2 really good games. That's the way most fans are but overall Mark has been the better postseason QB and Flacco the better regs eason QB but Flacco has always had much better talent around him.
That's why the Jets should look for a veteran QB or if they believe in a QB in the draft, get him. (I don't believe in the draft). They shouldn't put all their eggs in the Sanchez basket. He has a lot of things to fix. We need a backup plan but if Sanchez beats out the backup plan, he beats him out and earns himself a short leash.
And the biggest issues w/ last year was his lack of trust in his receivers and loss of confidence. The most important thing on Mornhinweg plate (besides teaching a new system) is to rebuild Sanchez's confidence. The best way to do that is to start him off with the easy throws, easy reads. Especially early in the offseaon, preseason and regular season. If after games 1-3 he has 4 TD's and 1 INT or better then that will go a long way in getting him back to being a confident player. When he's a more confident player then he will make the tougher throws with more conviction and won't get down as much if he makes a mistake. If Sanchez gets off to a bad start then Rex and MM will need to make a change, because Sanchez will be completely lost.
Bum? by who anyone who's not a Ravens fan. Flacco is SOOO much smarter with the football, I don't care who you have around you as far as talent is concerned. You make stupid decisions with the football, you are going to lose. Has Flacco ever ran face first into a Offensive lineman's ass and fumbled the football?
The thing I'm worried about is that Sanchez has missed on easy reads. His touch on screen passes, even when we had LT was never anything more than average. The thing that worries me most is that Sanchez just isn't consistent enough. Even when we had the max talent in year 2, he was still inconsistent. That kills drives in addition to the WR drops and wrong routes. Hopefully we get him some easy reads early and build his confidence, but it really stinks we are treating him as a rookie in year 5 now.
No thank you. Alex Smith with Harbaugh, great solid QB. Alex Smith, without Harbaugh, in NY, I'll pass. And who knows what money he will demand/want.
It really doesn't matter, he is dead in the eyes of the Jets so whether it's this year or next year he is gone.
Raven fans weren't thrilled w/ him until this postseason run, despite much more talent and playing for a new contract he didn't have a good regular season.
I could not disagree with you more, I think he's not dead. This worries me more then anything, not sure what Woody sees in him.
he sure could from '09-'11. You won't see a better pass in a tougher situation than his bomb to Braylon down the sideline btw 2 defenerds at the end of the Texans game in 2010. I think we have to throw away 2012 as he had very little to work eith.
I don't think he's dead. He's damaged goods that can't be addressed this year. If he turns the corner and shows some better play than year 2-part of year 3, the Jets can probably keep him for a whole lot cheaper than right now. If he doesn't turn the corner, then he's gone. He's got a lifeline but he's going to have to really go crazy to stay on the Jets.
Still a smarter QB then Sanchez. You will never win this argument. He threw for almost 4,000 years 22TD and 10 Ints .. horrible year. Sanchez on his BEST season ever threw for 3,400 yards 26 TD and 18 Ints..
