I'd rather keep Holmes over Sanchez if I had to choose. However we all know both guys are untradeable, and with Holmes contract it's gonna be tough to either trade or cut him. Plus it wasn't like his play this season before the injury was terrible. He gets a lot of unwarranted hate by this fanbase.
I never understood why made him the defacto #1 receiver. When you saw him with the Steelers a lot of his numbers were way inflated because his QB kept buying time and extended the play. Even with the Steelers he led the league in drops. When you see where the league is headed, corners are getting faster and receivers need to be bigger. He There's just so much more you can do with a bigger receiver and its just more useful even in the running game what you can do with them. You can't justify paying this guy the same money as guys like Brandon Marshall or Vincent Jackson. Guys like Desean Jackson, Mike Wallace, Santonio Holmes are not guys you want to make your #1 receiver and give them the contract of one.
There's a better chance of the organization eating Sanchez's $17.4 million than there is of them releasing or trading Holmes. If Holmes comes back and has a 1,000 yard season in 2013 (which would be only his second in his career, despite all the praise he gets), I expect him back in 2014. If he doesn't, he's gone.
Bump x10000000 If we're doing a fresh clean house, including star player that actually earn their share on the field, please don't forget about your Home boy numero uno cero otherwise known as 'Tone time baby!
It's not only being a jerk, it's being unproductive on the field. Look at the stats. When have you ever seen Holmes break the BIG one? He sucks, and has for a long time.

Yes, lets trade the best receiver we have, most likely for little return, eat 10 mill in dead money while we are at it. Switching to a WCO should only help Holmes whos best quailties are route running and the ability to make plays after the catch. He if he has a shit year this season then next year wew save 8 mill by cutting his ass. 2013 is not the right time though.
Holmes is a cancer. He's helped us lose more games then he's helped us win. 2013 is not the right time to cut him though. 2014 is.
I don't expect any different play on the field and I think he will probably continue to hurt this team more than help; however if we are handcuffed by the bullshit contract he was able to negotiate with Tanny than so be it.
LOL... We have an offense that severely lacks playmakers. So what should we do?Trade the one playmaker we actually have based on fabricated "locker room cancer" talk. Sheesh almighty
Don't forget that the Redskins were a huge player in that as well. When your outbidding Dan Snyder, you may as well be buring money.
Except for the several game winning catches part. Kerley is overrated by Jet fans. He has talent & COULD develop into a playmaker..but to date he's an inconsistent slot receiver and nothing more. Holmes at worst is a very good playmaking #2 WR. The comparison is ridiculous
Kerley has 2 seasons under his belt. You really thinking overpaying a #2 WR is the way to go? He's getting paid like 10 mil a year. I'll take my chances and go with Kerley and draft a new play-maker under a cheaper contract. I disagree, I think Howard is a better run blocker and Brick is a better at pass-protection. I don't think this comparison applies here ... I think Kerley has the same skill-set as Holmes. Brick and Howard are much different.
