Definitely should have remembered that. Still, I want to see what Revis wants and what the Jets can get for Revis before I know if trading him is the right move. Allocating that much money at cornerback isn't the smartest move, but Rex does love cornerbacks, and Cromartie has only two years left on his deal.
Definitely a designed leak. It gets other teams thinking and it begins to prepare Jets fans for Revis departure. It was a good move on the part of the Jets and shows us that they understand that it is important to address fan expectations, particularly in down times.
It is not a question of choosing to resign Revis, it is a bidding war in 2014 and the Jets have zero leverage...no "hometown discount".
I don't care if it came from the dead carcass of Weeb Ewbank. This constant bullshit has got to stop. They are a public relations nightmare...
A Revis trade increases the chances of a Cromartie trade. The Jets are going to need cap space to trade Revis that is barely available at the moment.
Well, we can trade him and see if any saved money from trading Revis can go towards bringing back Landry at least.
One other thing, I dont want Woody Pencildick Johnson making one single football decision. Let fucking Idzik figure this out.
If we traded Revis AND Cromartie then suddenly the "awful" Wilson pick will be looking a LOT better. I'm having flashbacks to Aaron Glenn and Marcus Coleman.
Can you elaborate on that? Why the need for cap space to trade him? I apologize before hand if this is a stupid question as I'm not that cap savvy.
I don't know how anyone could be surprised. This day has been coming since Revis signed his extention. Don't forget there have already been two holdouts. He's the greatest Jet ever, by far. I don't beleve they can sign him and there going to get ripped for trading him because there is no way to get value. A 1st and a 4th and he is off to Tampa
Why would they trade away Revis and Cromartie? That would make our secondary so weak it would be as laughable as Mark Sanchez's butt-fumble.
This is all Tannenbaum's fault. Cap guru my ass. It makes me sick to see that Bradway is still figuring prominently in the decision making. He should never have survived the Herm era. He traded up for Dewayne bust Robertson. He drafted a kicker in the 2nd round who isn't even good. He gave away a 1st round pick to the Raiders for Doug Jolley. With idzik lacking personnel experience, they may rely on Bumway even more heavily. The suffering is unending.
How about seeing how empty MetLife Stadium will be in 2013? Answer: VERY if that deal happens. I thought Woody wanted to sell tickets?
Revis salary for this season is $3M. The prorated bonus hit left for 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 is $12M. So the Jets will avoid paying his $3M salary and $3M more in associated bonuses by trading him. However they will still have the $12M in prorated bonuses left on the cap hit all at once. His old cap figure for the year was $9M and so the cap will take a $3M hit over his old cap figure if he is traded.
I'm confident Idzik will turn the cap situation around in short order. We will be cutting a lot of big money...Scott, Pace, Smith..... so it will work out, just won't have a lot of room for big signings. The problem will be building this back up with limited resources, it will take a few years
Unless this is Woody's latest scheme? He's plotting to make sure Tannenbaum gets the ultimate blame for Tebow by making such a blatantly obvious anti-ticket selling move. (tinfoilhat)
