I feel obligated to say, since I mentioned him earlier, that zac Stacy played like garbage in the Shrine Game. I agree that Terrance Williams could be a very good WCO receiver but the idea that he played in a wco is way off base. The wco is played mostly from under center with complicated receiving trees and terminology. See what Kendall Wright had to say about never having a playbook before the titans.
Yeah, I'm completely sold on Geno. Wouldn't want anyone more than him at 9. Maybe even pick up one of his receivers later on too.
Same here. I don't think he's truly worth a top 5 pick, but I think he's a great guy to build around...been convinced for awhile. But realistically, these are the 2 other guys I've been trying to keep an eye on, Landry Jones too.
Da'Rick Rogers is a first round talent who will probably be there in round 2, and would be a great fit in the WCO.
I haven't really looked into those others. Ill have to check them out. I really really like Geno though.
Theo Riddick is a great RB .. small frame but can catch well and cut well very fast. Perfect for WCO. The WR Marcus Wheaton is an amazing option too a big vertical threat
After checking out his throws this season, I'm completely not sold on Nassib. He is uncomfortable throwing it outside the numbers and does not show great anticipation, particularly on deep throws. He leaves a lot of plays outside the numbers, whether it's a guy who's beat his man in the flat and has room to run on the outside, or whether it's a guy who's beat his man deep. Instead, he'll use his cannon to "throw open" a covered guy in the middle -- preferably between the hashmarks -- who'll get no YAC. No thanks. That being said, I strongly agree that Manuel would be a great pickup in either the 3/4th round, if he lasts that long.
This really seems like a year where picking a QB later on makes more sense than picking one in the first round (unless it's Geno Smith).
Wheaton is so much more than a vertical threat. He's a good route runner and isnt afraid to get physical at the LOS. Great hands also. Compared Mike Wallace coming out, he's so much more polished.
I would like to see us get Tyler Wilson...kid has everything you would look for in a qb. Strong arm, leadership, mobilitly, durability, and good vision...Some think he could be the best qb in the draft even over Geno Smith. I wouldnt mind this pick at 9, but there is a lot to be addressed. I think in our situation we might be best off picking best player available.
Unless Jets can unearth some value at lower draft pick on QB, drafting one with high draft pick is not a good idea at all for the Jets as of now, given the circumstance. As it stands, Jets do not even have a good foundation to go WCO. 1. First area I would be looking at is the OL, no doubt. 2. After that, FB - and frankly, if Jets bring in Connor Barwin cheaply (which I think is a real possibility) I wouldn't mind seeing the Jets draft FB at 3rd round or so either. Of course that depends on which WCO Jets go with - this consideration is of any worth if and only if Jets go with the traditional 2-back set WCO. Here, the FB gets a tall order, as he needs to pass block well (1), catch the ball out of the backfield (2) and if needs be, he has to be able to grind the short yards (3). Definite 3rd round pick worthy. 3. After FB is settled, TE, then RB. Unlike the FB, they get two primary roles: good at occasional pass blocking, and good pass catcher. (As for RB, he has to be good in zone running scheme - but he won't be pounding the rock. He would be more of the receiver from the backfield than the traditional RB.) Jets will need a lot of picks this year, preferably on top 4 rounds. The above is at least 5 able-bodied draft picks, all on offense. Jets also need 2 OLBs and 2 safeties. (Connor Barwin coming cheap will help with one OLB, but not the other.) On top of that, Jets are stuck with Nacho and Tone's salary. They won't be a major player in the free agency, nor will they contend for the big one next season. Laying the foundation would be the way to go this offseason.
Agreed. There seems to be a lot of OL talent in this draft and I would really like to get Chance Warmack. But I have a question: what does the WCO demand out of its OL? Is there any impact at all?
I want to see Christine Michael in a Jets uniform, he is a game changing back. If he is available pick him at #9, I know how guys feels about RB at later rounds but this man is going to go in the first round and whoever gets him will be set at RB for a while.
unless something magical happens with this he will be there at 9. but he wont get picked there. IMO he currently has a 2nd round grade, at best.
This is my major question too. A guard isn't the flashiest or most important position on the offense- but it still held a large importance to us with our GnP style offense. How much of an impact does a guard have running a WCO?
