What is the Jets backup plan if Mark implodes next year? I wish him all the best, nice guy, etc but he doesn't strike me as the type of guy who will respond well to a stadium of angry Jet fans booing him for an entire season. If McElroy is ineffective or gets hurt, and they have no choice but to play Mark no matter what... Things could get really ugly.

I'm assuming next year's QB depth chart as follows with Mark getting 75% of the practice snaps:
    1. Sanchez
    2. McElroy
    3. (drafted rookie)

Veteran QB vs Sanchez vs McElroy in TC. If Sanchez doesn't beat them out, bench. If Sanchez beats them out, he starts on a short leash. If he messes or implodes, veteran QB or McElroy consdiering who looked better in TC/season. In 2014, draft a QB

Based on what took place last pre-season I'm not too confident in Rex giving non-Sanchez QB a fair chance to compete for the position.

He benched him this year, didn't he? Maybe too late, but it did happen. Also, Rex is fired if Sanchez implodes next year and he doesn't do anything. More than likely, Rex is fired either way, though.

what if the lee hiring was meant to keep tebow, and allow our offense to play to his few strengths?

I like Sanchez, McElroy, mid round pick rookie. Why does everyone want to waste time on some mediocre band-aid. Let's see what we have with these three. If any of them show anything, maybe we can get some trade value of them next year when we're picking at the TOP of the draft. Why do we want to take up some of our very limited cap space on Moore or Jackson or somebody else, just to move down a couple of spots in next year's draft?

Jets will be rebuilding next year. There is no QB available to the Jets who will make them a contender.

A couple of fans booing doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. What does matter is roster development, cap management, long term vision, and a consistent and a steady methodology perpetuated through the organization up to and including Rex Ryan.

There will be a QB competition but there most likely won't be a QB worth picking in the mid rounds. Those picks should be going toward building the offense - OLine, WR, TE. We shouldn't be blowing a decent pick on a no name mid round QB with nothing more than bench warmer as his future.

Bringing in a retread vet QB is better than wasting a draft pick.

I suspect that Lee & Morning-wig will do their collective best to salvage sanchez but I wouldn't put too much stock into it. Flynn, Moore, Henne or someone will be in here competing. I'm actually hoping the Jets are able to grab Stanton again cause i thought he had potential pre-Tebow-fucktard trade.

I really hope he somehow becomes great with the proper coaching. I'll never forget those awesome moments in 09 and 10.

Well if we can some how sign Alex Smith and get him a RB and 1 medoicre WR to go with Holmes, Kerley, Braylon, Keller, Cumberland, and possibly Schillens I really believe we can compete next year. You know our defence is gonna be solid. Alex is the QB Rex hoped Sanchez would be. Field general/Game manager that doesent turn the ball over n makes the big play when needed.

If we do get Smith, call me crazy but one cheap guy id bring into camp is OchoCinco. Hes humbled and has a chip on his shoulder. Hes gonna keep his mouth shut n go to work. He knows this is it. Hes a play maker and thats what this team lacks. Hed be happy with the vet minimum n def worth a look in camp. Low risk/High reward. IMO

This is how I would approach it, either Rex or the gm wouod say that McElroy is the "favorite" to start next season. Have a quasi "competition between the two and for argument sake lets say McElroy wins then he is the starter.

If Sanchez plays this year, everyone involved in the decision to play him will be fired next year, and it will prove the new GM is dog shit.

There is no way they go into next year without a new QB. Either one drafted in the first two rounds or free agency. Mark is just done here

I expect Sanchez to be dog shit and ride the pine next year. However, After Penny's 2nd surgery we all thought the same thing and he ended up playing the Ravens...in the playoffs...as a Dolphin.

We had the world's easiest schedule plus no Tom Brady that year...

And then we got blown out by the Ravens cause we knew his noodle arm would be no good...

    Meant nothing.

If Sanchez wins a fair, challenging TC competition, i wouldn't be opposed to him starting.
