There has been some debate as to how we handle the QB situation for next year. I for one think the worst thing we could do as an organization is to spend any draft picks or more than peanuts to bring in a Veteran QB to compete with Sanchez and McElroy. Its been proven time and time and time again that the way to win in the NFL is you HAVE to draft your QB of the future. I have to say we did learn our lesson from the Favre experiment and tried to do the right thing but we failed. But that doesnt mean we don't go back to the formula that has proven to be the most successful. Looking at the entire league it is quite obvious that this is truly the only way we should go. Idzik, please follow the proven blue print.

    AFCE
    Pats – Brady – Drafted –
Bills – Fitz – FA (not working out)
Phins – Tannehill – looks pretty good so far
    Jets – we all know

    AFCN
    Ravens – Flacco – drafted
    Steelers – Ben – drafted
    Bungles – Dalton – drafted
Browns – mess, like us whiffed in draft(s)

    AFCW
Bolts – Rivers – drafted – had some success but fading
Broncos – Peyton – previously injured starter
Raider – Palmer – trade disaster
Chiefs – Cassel – trade– disaster

    AFCS
Houston – Schaub – trade – working out well, I would say
Tennessee – Locker - ?? maybe works out
Jax – Gabbert – drafted – see us and Browns
Colts – drafted – Luck – struck gold

    NFCE
    Giants – Eli – drafted – 2 SB
Eagles – Foles – drafted – looks like something
Boys – Romo – Signed FA (but there undrafted FA so this is almost like drafted) – some success
    Skins – RG3 – drafted – looks damn good

    NFCN
    Lions – Stafford – drafted – flashes, ??
    Packers – Rodgers – drafted – gold
Minny – Ponder – Showing signs
Bears – Cutler – trade – pretty good results, second besides Schaub so far.

    NFCW
    49ers – Kaepernick – drafted - in SB
    Hawks – Wilson – drifted – gold
Rams – Bradford - ??? With weapons, who knows?
    Cardinals – FAs/Trades – disaster

    NFCS
Saints – Brees – FA –previously injured starter
Panthers – Newton – drafted – jury out
Falcons – Ryan – drafted – very, very solid despite PO failures
Bucs – Freeman – up and down, not dire though.

RGIII Will be one of the best ever to play the game provided he comes back from his injury ok.

Am I right in thinking every Super Bowl winning QB since Brad Johnson won with the team that drafted him, with the sole exception of Drew Brees?

I think that we should draft a QB this year. I just don't think it's the year to do it on Day 1. There is no harm in taking a shot at a mid-round QB hoping to get lucky (i.e. Russell Wilson) and then trying to land a stud in the first round of next year's draft. Bill Walsh was a big proponent of picking a QB in every draft.

That's a big if. That injury looked pretty bad. Doesn't help his cause that his owner is a dipshit and doesn't give a damn that their home field is like gravel with green paint on top.

RGIII will be one of the biggest busts since Gholston.

Much like our problem with Sanchez.,,,he was not properly coached, and will remain an injury problem UNLESS they figure that out

I think the Jets should draft their next QB but for now I would like to see McElroy get a shot. Not saying he's the future, but then again you never know.

You gotta be F-in kidding me...... if he never steps on a field again, he's already made 1000x the contribution and success that Vern ever had.

Let him have a shot in TC... I think we should go into TC with a 3-way competition between McElroy, Sanchez (let's face it, we're stuck with him) and either a rookie or a vet.

Both eil and rivers were not drafted by thier current team.

Favre, steve young, and Elway did not win a SB with the team that drafted them.

Find talent and aquire it however you can. There is no catch all golden rule for finding the right guy.

Kurt Warner is the obvious exception to this. But I agree with the OP for the most part.

My point about RGIII isn't that hes not a great player, but his unwillingness to take care of his body, will set his organization back years.

    That may change.

    We'll see.

So, you think allowing your franchise QB to recklessly disregard his physical well being, is well coached?

    Odd....

I'm merely talking in terms of setting the organization back, if he doesn't take care of himself on the field.

Maybe sign a veteran like a David Gerrard who should come cheap.
