Thoughts on Denard Robinson as a prospect and where he might go? I love the idea of Denard Robinson on this team. He'd be an actual replacement for Brad Smith with upside that Tebow didn't really have. Robinson has the tools to be a pretty good receiver. Worked for Antwaan Randle-El and Randall Cobb. I don't think Robinson is as good a prospect as Cobb was last year, but he has the size and athleticism to play outside for sure. And he can have a package in the system and not threaten the starting quarterback for his job. I now read Kiper saying Robinson will go no later than round 2. What are your thoughts on Robinson that high? In round 3, I'd be tempted if I'm the Jets. Where the Jets are slotted in round 2, and given all of our needs, it's too risky for my blood. I guess it's a little early he combine, the Senior Bowl and workouts will cause his stock to rise or fall.
Not really that interested in him. He's an interesting player to talk about and he was explosive in college but I think the Jets have other areas that are more pressing. Can't be spending a 3rd round pick on a guy that really doesn't have a position. Earliest I'd take him is like the 5th round.
I go to Michigan and I can say first hand I would absolutely not want Denard here with a third round pick. I don't know what he's listed as, but he's absolutely not bigger than 5'10. I've taken pictures with him, and I'm 5'7-5'8, and he as at most 2 inches on me. He's never played KR before (obviously, he was our QB), and again, has never played any sort of ST before. He is too small to play WR, and with our needs, round 3 is too high to take an "athlete".
Honestly, I cant really justify spending a pick on Day 2 on a quarterback who has no experience playing wideout. He is this years Pat White

Seems a little too rich for a Jets team this bad. I think only first two rounds can a team reliably expect to get a starter. My guess: 1 round to closing up that huge LB hole after salary cuts. 1 round to upgrade one starter on the OL (hopefully OG). ******* 3rd round is where they seriously consider adding skill position player.
He'd fit as a depth receiver while he learned the position. He's got quickness, speed and enough size to be a receiver. Then you can sprinkle him into some wildcat. I think Rex still would like to use it in some form, someone like Denard is fast enough where there's no reason he can't run it. And it won't be front page news every time he comes into the game to run it.
But is it really worth using a 3rd round pick on that while we have such other significant needs? Especially when Kerley has shown he's very capable of running the Wildcat for the team? I think its more important to put that 3rd round pick to an area of need where the player can step right in and contribute
I'm not too high on Robinson. He can be an interesting project but wouldn't take him earlier then the 4th or 5th.
10" hands! That's almost 1/2" bigger than any other WR and as big as most of the TEs. The guy is part tree frog!
No, just NO. I'm a Michigan fan, and once you took him out of the spread offense with Rodriguez, this guy was abysmal. Michigan had a very good line protecting him as well, but with any kind of pressure, he would start chucking balls up in the air. Now, he has no prospect whatsoever as a QB in the NFL. The wildcard is all but useless, and it's pointless to waste a roster space for that, IMO. As a WR, I don't know. I heard he was dropping passes at the Senior Bowl practices. I think he's better off a backup RB that can be a change of pace type guy, the role that McKnight plays on our team. I say 7th rd prospect as best. He's just not worth the risk.
Way too many holes on this team to take a QB/RB/WR eventhough those three positions are all needs we need to address them seperatly not package them into one guy but if he is there in the 6th or 7th id take a chance on him but no earlier way to risky and this team cant take risks
I read on twitter that a scout said that he catches the ball like he's making a sandwich... Which doesn't really bode well for his future as a WR.
Not in our best interest imo. Now like I have been saying is Markus Wheaton is available 3rd round I say it's a steal. Even the Second round by chance even though I DO see us getting a Defensive player on round 2
I don't think a team drafting Denard Robinson would expect him to be a major contributor right away. Personally, I'm all about this team using later draft picks for the purpose of upgrading either the athleticism or versatility of this roster. I personally believe he'd provide this team with athleticism, value, and versatility. I was impressed with his work at running back late in the season, and I have no doubt that he'll eventually learn how to play receiver or catch kicks. The Jets are a very slow team, with very few players that challenge a defense vertically. It wouldn't hurt to take a shot on one late. -X-
Thinking of it he wouldn't be anything by a wildcat QB which is just about dead but I still have him as a slight possibility
