I'm not trying to protect anyone at all. I also highly doubt that I'M embarassing myself with anything. Pretty ironic that you are accusing others of having any type of agenda. I'm not interested in protecting anybody.I'm only interested in the truth. If I had a rooting interest in the matter..of the name's involved I always admired Tannenbaum the most for his thinking out of the box perspective on things. That said out of the box transactions sometimes get you in trouble..and in this case Tim Tebow has the handprints of Tannenbaum all over it.Furthermore he has always taken responsibility for the move..has spoken more in depth regarding the transactions thought process than anyone else involved & now Woody is telling people behind closed doors that it wasn't his deal. You are in denial & your intentions are as clear as day.The only one w/ a alcohol inspired agenda is you
Woody jst cannot get out of his own way. He is a pathetic dickweed. Maybe the new GM hire was a good thing, but constantly having this Charlie Brown owner miss the football all day long is such a fucking joke. Just go hide behind an underage stripper like Kraft, Woody. You're an embarrassment.
Only the blatant homers will take Woody's word for it. They'd tell you to die in a fire, but their post count isn't high enough yet.
Byz, With all due respect...I just don't understand this rationale. If the criticism for Woody is that he should've stepped in & veto'd the whole transaction..I guess I can buy that. But where is the tangible evidence(Again..not speculation or vague quotes that could be interpreted in many ways) that this was all Woody's idea? Wouldn't he have pushed for Tebow to start instead of favoring Mcelroy to start once the season plummeted? Doesn't the fact that Tannenbaum has taken responsibility as well as provided the most rationale within the thought process of anyone involved mean anything? Given how much press the story got & all the media outlets who investigated the matter & who WANTED to bash Jets ownership..how is it that none of them were ever able to unearth Woody's" Grand scheme"? Furthermore...Sundquist was not only critical of the Tebow move when it occured, he's worked w/ owners before & after being slighted for the Jets GM spot has no loyalties to Woody what so ever. Why would he go out of his way to clear Woody's name to Cimini if he thought the whole blame game was bullshit? I really just fail to see how any of this makes sense. And I'm sorry.. I need to see more than "Woody is full of crap". Why? What evidence? Not speculation...tangible EVIDENCE. If you don't like Woody...that's fine. But I guess you can call me a homer if you want..I just don't follow this whole theory. All the available evidence says otherwise.
Wonder if Idzik is regretting his decision after hearing Woody's Tebow comments. He should be, unless Woody also said that to him during his interviews and he believed it.
Fantastic post. You summed it up beautifully. The "Woody wanted Tebow to sell tickets" theory never made that much sense and it hasn't been supported by a lick of evidence.
Take this, instead: http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2012/04/woody_johnson_says_hell_take_f.html Woody's probably only keeping Rex for another year because he needs a scapegoat.
There is a big difference in I believe IN woody vs I believe Woody, and I voted I believe Woody. I don't take Woody as a person that is gets involved with personal or operations. He has enough on his plate, and feel he is a hire the people to run it kind of guy.
He also told a person in confidence this, and if he wanted it to come out, he would have given this as a reason for firing Tanny.
what Woody said was that he allowed his football decision makers to make the decision to trade for a player. why the hell would Idzik regret the job because Woody allows his GM to make personnel decision?
In the first minute of this video Tanny tells you who is responsible for Tim Tebow... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPtUi6SIdJQ
This isn't an internal leak. It's a guy we interviewed to be our GM telling the media that Woody said that Tebow was forced upon him. Two completely different things. We haven't had an internal leak in a while.
I did not say it was an internal leak. My question still stands...is anything ever said at a Jets facility remain private? By leak, by people spilling the beans and going on record etc (its a rhetorical question) its just bizarre I can not think of another example in professional sports .
you don't even know what was actually said, all you know is what sundquist the failed candidate, allegedly said that somebody else said - its 100% unreliable hearsay bs and yet the yahoos assume its 100% factually correct - LOL @ the gullible circus clowns.
A lot of these quotes are second-hand, hearsay. I'm just not sure what to make of any of it. I have no trust, confidence, or respect for (national and local) sports media in this country and I put nothing past 90% of these reporters. As a result, my rule is that unless someone consciously decides to put their name on a quote, I just don't read anything into it.
