If we take one, and I know that's a big if, which one would you prefer?

Easy Geno. I would take about 5 other qbs before Barkley.

Barkley, looked like he regressed this year. I'd take Geno and I think that has become more of a probability now that morningwig is our OC and he's a WC offense guy. And Geno is best suited to do well in a WCO.

I'd take the hot blond chick with the banging body over the fat ugly chick every time.

No more USC QB -- never.

I know I'm being blinded with prejudice but can't handle another USC QB coming in here & stinking up the joint.

Do you really think either will be left by the second round? Because neither one is good enough for our first round pick.

I think two QB will go in the first round. There's so many teams out there desperate for a starting QB. Then we've got so many new coaches that will be looking to reboot their franchise with a new QB. Plus there's always somebody that looks @ an available QB in the draft and thinks they can harness his potential.

Looks in the main forums and most of us are clamoring for Matt Moore (including myself). That shows how desperate we are also.

    =============
Do I want Jets to take a QB in the first round? No way. But I'll be really surprised if 1st round ends with no QB chosen.

Geno Smith is going to be a stud with the right coaching in the right the system and thats what we have in our new OC. He coaches up QB's and the WCO is suited for Geno.

The Chiefs will likely pass I think along with Buffalo so unless someone jumps ahead of us I think Geno HAS to be the pick

    I'd take Matt Barkley.

Dana Holgorsen's offense does not develop NFL QB's. The fact that Weeden went in the first round was a joke. He comes from the Mike Leach spread offense tree, and that offense has not developed any good NFL QB's. Texas Tech always had prolific college passers like Graham Harrell but they've never turned into anything in the NFL.

Geno's arm isn't as big as advertised. I've seen him float way too many balls on deep routes/passes, his accuracy in the deep and intermediate passing games leaves a lot to be desired. Coming from his spread offense, he has a predetermined #1 option and doesn't "read" the defense before the snap. It's all about trying to create a one on one matchup and exploiting it.

Because of this, Geno really lacks pre-snap diagnostic skills. He doesn't identify blitzers, and he lacks pocket awareness/presence since the ball is usually out of his hands in a few seconds. And if Geno's first option isn't there, he doesn't really scan the field and find another guy. He kind of panics, gets happy feet and starts to run toward the sideline. I don't really see how this guy is a potential top 10 pick. He put up gaudy stats but really lacks the qualities you would like to see from an NFL QB.

Barkley was scrutinized a lot this year and a lot of people are tired of failure USC QB's - Sanchez, Cassel, Palmer, Leinart. But Barkley is far more refined as an NFL passer than Smith is. Barkley read defenses in college, had better field vision, and played in a pro style system. His arm is probably not as big as Smith's, but his accuracy and touch is much better. Barkley's footwork and passing mechanics are also better than Smith's, as Smith often throws off his backfoot while back pedaling. Barkley is much better at stepping up in the pocket while scanning the field and delivering a strike

The only QB in this years draft class with a higher football IQ than Geno Smith is Matt Barkley. While thus may be true, Barkley does not have the physical tools that Smith has and I see a lot more happy feet in Barkley than Geno. There is not much of a difference in the weapons that each QB had. I don't know who said barkley is more accurate, because it is just not true. Geno sometimes floats his deep balls, but that is probably the only accuracy problem I see with him. I see both Geno and Barkley excelling in a west coast offense best. If Geno were available at 9, I wouldn't hesitate to take him. I have a feeling he is really going to impress the chiefs though and andy reid will continue his black QB streak (no racist remark intended)

Geno. but I would take Glennon, Wilson, Nassib, Jones and even Dysert over Smith.

If geno smith is around at #9 do you see the jets drafting him?

I do not agree with this at all. but I do think the jets may do this as a panic move from the front office.

I don't expect him to be there at 9....if he was I would have to see how he preformed at the combine...

Most likely I would head in a different direction tho

If you look at our past few drafts we've never reached for a player in the first, even when there is a need. So no, we wouldn't do this.

New GM so past history does not necessarily apply anymore. But hopefully there are no substantial reaches

To be honest I have been hyping Nassib for months now but Dysert is an intersting prospect also

If guy who got hired a week ago is already in panic mode then it probably won't matter who the Jets pick because the team will be screwed for a very long time.
