Says the person who thought it would be a good trade to move back seven slots in the first for Ben Heartstock, a blocking TE.

Go back to your Falcons boad and pollute that. We don't have any need for trolls in the draft forum.

If Geno is there at 9 the trigger is getting pulled unless we get a good package, however Geno plus Marty Mornhinweg intrigues me very much.

At 9 right now I see a ton of guys mocked to us all over

    Geno
    Mingo
    Warmack
    Jordan
    Jones
    Wilson
    Barkley
    Glennon
    Star
    Ansah

To be honest I am taking Star and playing him Wilk and Ellis on the line and I am gonna have Q stand up....Star is a beast reminds me of Ngata

Part B of your plan is awful -- Coples has no business standing up in a 3-4. That would put him in a Gholston-esque situation.

IF Idzik is going BPA and Star is on the board, we may very well take him. That would require that we move to a 4-3, which right now better suits our defense anyway.

    RDE: Quinton Coples
    DT: Kenrick Ellis
    DT: Star Lotulelei
    LDE: Muhammed Wilkerson
    WLB: DeMario Davis
    MLB: David Harris
    SLB: Bart Scott

the rest of the defense stay the same. Would fix our run defense problems certainly. Wilkerson's ideal spot would be at DT next to Star, as that would be a more dominant DT duo than Suh and Fairley in Detroit. However he can play a Red Bryant role like in Seattle at 4-3 LDE. Bryant is a true DT, but his surprising athleticism allows him to play LDE in their 4-3 and is also part of why they have such a great run defense (their pass rush, although not picked up by the media as much, was pretty bad this year though -- just had a great secondary).

If we use our 2nd round pick on a safety like Eric Reid, our defense would not be too different from Seattle's. We'd have a playmaking safety (although they have 2), great corners, run and hit linebackers, and a very stout D-line. Maybe bring back Maybin to play the Bruce Irvin role until we can get our own Bruce Irvin (maybe Tank Carradine in the 4th round of the draft).

I think we need to get a lot of OL help first though, so it probably won't go down this way.

Coples could stand up, no doubt about that. He played pretty well this year on plays he didn't have his hand in dirt. I definitely don't think it's the best place for him though. I don't think having him as a end in a 4-3 is the best place for him either though. Coples is a man inside and we have a great 3-4 DE and one that has potential to be great on the other side. I would hate a move out of the system that fits best for what we already have. If we were to trade Star we could rotate him in at nose for a year, with some 4 lineman fronts mixed in. Pouhas getting old and Star would still play plenty and after this year he could take the spot for real with Ellis as his backup.

Having Coples, Star, and Wilk up front would be dominant. I don't care who our linebackers are but if we had that they better make some plays because it would be almost too easy for them.

There's no reason to think Coples would be a good LB. There are lots of reasons to think he wouldn't be a good LB. I don't think the Jets make any move that puts Coples at LB at this point. It would be taking a huge chance on throwing away another 1st round pick and the Jets have been doing that a lot lately.

The GM, I'm glad you weren't the GM chosen for the Jets....

Yep, Brick has declined a bit, but he is far from one of the bigger problems to be focusing on.

2 years ago he played awful, but he was fine this past year, maybe not elite, but far from a problem.

If Joeckel is there, the ideal scenario would be to trade down, if at all possible.

No matter who is there, the goal should be to trade down. The ultimate goal for this team is to get an elite offensive playmaker, particularly at quarterback. That is the #1 need for this team. There isn't a single player in this draft that fits that mold. Therefore, trade down.

Considering the needs and cap situation of this team, as well as the lack of quarterback talent in this draft, this draft should be used to stockpile picks this year and possibly even next year. The 9th pick is our biggest weapon to improving this team. I think multiple players would help this team more than anything.

Chances are, we're setting up to make a major play at a QB next season. If we do that, then we will want to fill as many holes as possible this year in case we have to trade up next year. Or we can get more ammunition in next year's draft to do that.

Or, we can get extra picks where we can afford to grab a Dysert or a Wilson or someone like that in round 2, 3 or 4 and still have enough picks to help out elsewhere.

As much as this defense needs a big-time pass rusher, it could use help at a few positions to create flexibility.

All it takes is for a few teams to reach in the top 10 and then we won't want to trade down.
