Did you bother to even look at this guys history? I mean, I get that the talent on offense is severely lacking, but that would be the case with whoever we hired.
Totally agree. It isnt a super hot candidate but he appears to be competent enough to at least field an average offense which would be great for our D.
As a head coach he looked much worst than Sparano. However, as an OC he's looked much better than Sparano. Luckily for us, he's coming aboard as OC & not HC.
I kind of like the hire, doesn't seem like a terrible move. The guy has coached under some good HC's and had some good offenses. The same people yelling and screaming about his job as a HC wanted Marty Schottenheimer.
Man some people really just don't give a shit how stupid they look. Some of you guys might want to do some research on the guy before you get on your computer and post about him publicly.
I'm shocked that this move isn't getting more praise in this forum. This guy has a GREAT track record as an OC. What more could you ask for? He was an OC for 7 years in Philly and his offense finished outside of the top 10 only twice (11th and 15th this past season). The Jets haven't had a top 10 offense since 1998. This is a welcome and refreshing change to this team.
This would be something that could work...McNab knows the system and Nacho would have a chance to compete.
I disagree. You keep Mark Sanchez this season, cut Tebow and you bring in a veteran to come in and compete for the starting gig. I'm not drafting any QBs in this draft, and I'm not pressing the panic button right away on Rex. Find some play-makers in this draft for the new future QB. Stay the course, next season this team won't be very good, we could potentially be in the running for a real QB in the 2014 draft -that's when we pull the trigger. The new GM needs to follow his vision, with or without Rex.
"He runs a west coast offense, and has had an offense in the Top-10 eight of the last thirteen years." - This was enough for me to give him a chance. Although that's not really saying much since I was stoked about the Sparano hire. Womp womp.
Bring in a vet ok.... but McNabb??? Really???? Jesus h Christ guys..... F it, lets just ask Testaverde to come back I like this hire. Guy has a proven track record of producing good offenses. This team only needs a halfway decent one to be competitive.
Not being Sparano or Schotty was enough for me to give him a chance. (Although I last year said that not being Schotty was enough to give Sparano a chance...)
Vick aint coming. Even if you look past the off the field issues he doesn't fit. Guy is ALWAYS hurt and years removed from a fully productive season. Think it's more realistic to turn Sanchez around.
Mornhinweg...that name is gonna need a nickname soon. I like what I'm reading regarding Moweg, and I specially like the experience he brings to this team. It's going to take some time to make this new offense work mainly because we are going to need to bring the pieces to replace some of the old regime. I'm cautiously excited and can't wait to see what he brings to the table.
Hopefully, according to the main man himself, Rex will have no input on the personnel. If he wants to sing a vet like Matt Moore to save his ass from a 4-12 season and end up 8-8, he should go f*ck himself. As Woody says, the GM will control the personnel. If his vision (as Im hoping) extends beyond 2013 and may include a rebuilding year next year, then he should follow through despite Rex's input.
