Harris is better than Willis. Period. 5 years of stats don't lie, Willis gets more recognition, because Harris did not get on the field for half of his first season, but when he did, he outplayed Willos.
I wasn't just quoting what was suitable to my argument. I was being objective and weighing both the good and bad. I agree he deserved it, but calling his drafts disasters when we were a few plays away from the superbowl in 2010 is ludicrous. That was my point to mr don. The problem was his contracts and overpaying players. Every team misses early round picks every year. No 1st rounder is a guarantee. There is a certain element of luck involved. Ducasse looked like he would be a beast when we drafted him, so did Gholston. It's easy to look back in retrospect, but weighing the good and bad shows that he had mediocre / average drafts. Most 2nd and 3rd round picks do not end up starting for at least a year, and many don't do squat. It's just he nature of the beast. People act like the good teams all hit home runs with all their early picks every year. That's not even close to reality.
You are completely out of your mind. Let me know when Harris is an all pro linebacker. You might want to go to a 49er game live and I'm going to suggest it will be an eye opener. Willis is an absolute beast. Harris is a very nice inside linebacker.
I'll even expand. Here is the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the 2010 draft. It's been a few years so we are starting to see who is panning out and who's not. Looking down the list only about 4 or 5 of them are home run impact players, and maybe another 10-15 are servicable starters. Willis got there on the basis of his rookie year. Tell me, Harris started 9 games to Willis 16....who had more sacks...? Willis rep is PR. Harris is one of the most underrated players in football, and has better stats over the last 5 years. I watch every game available, but scheme has much to do with it. And Harris is not the focal point of the Jets D. Yet....he still puts up better numbers. Teams run away from Harris...they tend to run at Willis. Now part of that may be the ages of Thomas and Pace...but...I always go back to their rookie seasons...Harris was the far better player.

He was only on the field because Revis was hurt.
The issue isn't even necessarily missing on guys like Gholston, Sanchez, Vlad, etc. It's trading up and giving yourself less of a chance to get guys later on too. I have zero problem trading up to get an elite player. Doing it for Revis was one of the smartest moves the Jets FO has made. But you have to be damn sure it's going to be worth it.
Willis got their because of his rookie year AND every subsequent year since. It's about the entire body of work. You can't just be selective and pick and choose pieces to support your argument. Over the course of their careers Willis is definitely a better MLB than Harris, hands down. There's no shame in that statement though as Willis is better than just about every MLB in the league. Harris is a good MLB and had a very good rookie year, Willis is in a different league. The speed and agility is what separates them.
Because there are not much to choose from. Considering our situation and lack of talented GM's. Where is scott pioli? or what about promoting one of our great scouts? Is it that bad that no one wants the job. I will take it. All woody is asking is to give rex one more year. This is why woody had to hire a firm to out source a plan of action. No you run at guys you either want to block so they can't make the tackle or suck against the run Running away from someone like Patrick Willis might backfire because he goes unblocked at the ball carrier that's a potential FF because he's athletic enough to get across the field, has a nose for the ball and its just a flat out beast Harris isn't fast enough to get across the field and runs like he has doo doo in his pants However Harris is serviceable and looked good when he had a guy like Davis next to him Harris and Scott were to similar which kills us on 3rd down more than anything

That theory has been beat to death man, at this point, nobody is concerned about Rex Ryan's status. These canidates understand the components in place. Rex isn't even involved in the interview process from the reports in the media. I don't think Rex is nearly the biggest problem for this team or the new GM.
