If Tom Moore wants to be an OC then you give him whatever he wants & throw in a free house with hookers & booze.
Since he's 75 years old, I'm not sure he'd be willing to sign a 4-year contract. However, I'd still sign him up. Surround him with a younger offensive coaching staff that will hopefully pick up some of his genius & promote one of them to OC when Moore leaves.
He made Mark Sanchez one of the best red zone QB's in the season he consulted with the Jets. Sign me up.
Rex may be old in age but not in how he acts. A young OC might be the wrong way to go. Westy was loved by the Jets (fans, players, coaches) Tom Moore would be a good father figure not friend that we need... even if only for a year or two.
what is this young vs old OC crap? Who cares if he is young or old? I want the best possible OC. How long do teams keep a good OC before he gets a HC gig anyway? Usually 3 - 4 years max? So who cares if Tom Moore is here for 2 years and retires. If he's old so what. I say all the better. He'll groom his replacement. We were about bringing in Norv when he was available and he's no spring chicken. If you think we will have a great young OC and he won't be gone as a HC in the next few years you aren't thinking clearly. The reason our coordinators havent become HC's is because we havent had good coordinators on the offensive side. You can't have your cake and eat it too. The idea is a good coordinator not only will become a head coach but as a good coordinator will bring in a good supporting staff who then in turn will fill the role.
Those are your words and assumptions, not mine. It was a very simple question. Why isn't Moore in high demand for an OC opening and how many teams have contacted him? Is it that the Jets know something that every other team in the league looking for an OC doesn't know? Being that we're supposedly announcing a GM tomorrow, it's almost guaranteed that Moore will not be this team's OC.
The answer is ridiculously simple. He was not seeking an OC job and was not thought to be a candidate. How do you know who has contacted him. The news of this just broke this morning. Also, it is late in the game his name wasnt in the hat from jump street. How does us announcing a new GM have any bearing on Moore being an OC. I do not see the link.
There's a lot of ex coaches and executives whose names get thrown around every offseason and teams still reach out to them to see if they have any interest in coming out of retirement. (Cowher, Polian, etc) And this is without them actively seeking new jobs. That said, you don't see Moore's name getting thrown around and there was plenty of opportunity for his name to be brought up for several jobs. It doesn't matter if he just announced today that he was seeking an OC job. Teams would've already reached out to him if there was that much interest. Furthermore in that article there is zero mention of any team's that have contacted Moore. Rather he is reaching out to see if there's any interest in him. He sounds desperate to me. Which lead to my question, why is there so little demand for him? Hell we don't even know if Woody, Hughes, Glat and Rex are even remotely considering this guy.
Cowher and Polian and different types of names. They are household names. Moore is not. With that said, Moore's resume is superb and his year with the Jets led to #1 in RZ efficiency. I don't see any issue with him what so ever, and I don't understand yet what your issue is? The article was published as of this morning so no, teams have not been reaching out to Tom Moore. Tom Moore is dropping lines to guage interest. What is wrong with that? Again, it's late in the game so most open vacancies have been honed in on/filled.
How about bring in Moore for a year and hire Pep Hamilton as quarterbacks coach/assistant HC and he takes over the offense when Moore retires?
I would take that in a heart-beat as well. A smooth transition would make this offense good for the long-haul. I love Stanford's offensive scheme, and Moore is a mastermind when it comes to making offenses work. Pep would be the young guy in waiting. Pep would stay on the sidelines during the games, while he gets all of his input from Moore. I wish it was that easy though man! He could always coach from the booth, he did that when he was a consultant.

He put it out there that he wanted back in at least a month ago. Said he's healthy and feeling good. Nobody appears to be knocking his door down, but manning makes sense.
