I do remember. Most people here still thought Sanchez was a good qb and thought Peyton was done. Whether Peyton wanted to come here or not has absolutely NOTHING to do with what im talking about
I've been saying for most of the season that the Broncos D is a bit overrated. I may prove to be wrong, but teams that they've played with any reasonable offense have been able to move the ball on them.
Peyton feared being in the AFC East, thats what it came down to. Keep in mind the Jets did have a better overall team than the Broncos outside the QB. The broncos had the #22 defense last year while Jets had #5. Offense is offense, guys woulda followed hi, to NY anyway and we probably draft a WR over Coples. Bottomline, Peyton wanted the easiest road to the playoffs, no brady or belichick. No Steelers or Ravens so the only viable options were Titans and Broncos.
If it wasn't the majority it sure seemed like it. Junc and the Sanchez apologistsattacked manning without reason denying even that Manning would be an upgrade. They went ballistic when many of realists pointed out that Manning will likely still be playing in the NFL long after Sanchez is out of the NFL. But then again many of us have been pointing out quite rightly since 2010 that Sanchez is nit a NFL QB. Now in retrospect it seems quite clear that Manning at $20 million is a much better use of money than Sanchez at $11.5 million. Especially considering Manning makes every player on the team much better while Sanchez makes every player much worse. While our OL was very good this year it might have been the best in the league with Manning. Our relieving core would have gone from bad to very good especially if Sanchez was not there to injure Holmes because of a poorly thrown ball. Imagine out defense playing with a lead and it would be hard to imagine them not the number one defense in the league with Manning.
I wasn't replying to your post, so I don't know (edit: wrong word)what you were talking about. I WAS responding to soxxx post.
Well I remember it full well, that was the reason. Everyone claimed he would never be good, he would be injured, etc.
They are related. We fans, when we can't get what we want, try to explain why it's okay we missed. One of them was "Peyton won't want to come here but it's okay since he's done" people wanted to cope I haven't watched enough of them to formulate an opinion. Announcers said demver is 2 which I thought seemed high
This -- I think very few people thought Peyton would ever dream of coming to a franchise like the Jets, especially after the way Rex lost the control of the team last year.
People also claimed that we wouldnt be a contender with Peyton, I never understood that. Peyton can take all 32 teams and make them a contender, period.
Actually the Jets were one of the early favorites along with Miami and Washington. Most people had Denver last on the list. As it played put though, Washington and NY got cut early, then Miami he didnt like at all so then the least 2 favorites emerged, the titans and broncos. 49ers also popped up late but he chose denver over the Titans because Elway sold em.
this would be a much better game if the non-replacement insurance salesman officials swallowed their stupid whistles and let the teams play some football one thing though you can almost see how joyful Coach Fox looks having gotten rid of the incompetent turd he was saddled with last season and replacing him with one of the great quarterbacks in the history of the game
Ravens better not squander any more scoring chances, because Peyton has at least 3 more TDs in him today IMO.
