    Exactly

They need to hit a HR with these hirings but as you said the guys at the top of our lists are running away. If we wanted these other guys whether it was GM or coaches wouldn't you interview them 1st ? Don't tell us these are the guys you wanted all along,,,but I stray

I'm kinda glad those GMs passed on us, because if this is "cap hell" for them, they're not ones to deal with adversity. Fuck 'em.

Add to the list that Pouha will either restructure or get cut, and (we fucking better) we're gonna build through the Draft and we should be ok.

Your numbers are for 2014. Add in Revis 9 million cap charge for accelerated signing bonus and we are at over 20 million in dead money for 2014. When more than one seventh of your cap is dead money two years down the road, I would say that is a bad cap situation. It calls for a total rebuild and I don't think Woody is up for that as well as Rex knows he would likely be gone on a rebuild.

We're going to have disagree. I don't think the Jets can go into this years draft and replace all of those guys with whatever players they select in the 4th round and later. Many 4th round and laters guys don't even make the team.

Teams like the Steelers have been building through the draft for years. It's a totally different philosophy and one that can't simply be changed in one draft.

You have to start someplace though and the Jets current model is not only broken but broken down on the side of the road. It would be a good idea for them to resolve the model issues before they get back into motion.

Hardly matters whether it's the cap, the media, the coach or the owner..people don't seem to want the job. They have interviewed 9 so far and I can see the need to be diligent but this is getting comical.

The Jets aren't in the greatest position right now. They have media issues, talent issues, cap issues and fan issues that arise out of all of the above.

I don't think they're an easy sell. I expect that they'll find somebody they like though after all the dust has cleared. It's amazing how a lack of other opportunities focuses the minds of the people who still want a GM job.

We haven't heard of them offering the job to anyone so what makes you think the candidates interviewing don't want the job? They aren't interviewing for the fun of it.

There are many reasons to want to get paid millions/year to run one of the 32 NFL teams.teams

This. I don't know where this people don't want the job myth has come from. Caldwell chose the Jags. Other than that what has led people to believe that candidates don't want the job? I'd like to see some proof of this, besides internet speculation. Gamble came for another interview and the Jets didn't feel comfortable w/ his understanding of the cap. What about that says Gamble didn't want it?

Look. Anyway you spin it, the Jets are a NY team in the biggest market in the country. People WANT the job despite the self-loathing of Jets fans and the current team image around the league.

If you interviewed for a job and you weren't extended an offer for the position, would it be safe to assume you didn't want the job??

It only takes a little effort to understand the logic. People don't want to understand, they want to whine.

We all read at least a couple have turned down interviews, early on they said Polian said "thanks but no thanks" to even an interview. They must know who they like before interviewing them and either they have absolutely no idea what they're doing in evaluating the people they are bringing in (quite possible) or at least some of them did not come across as being interested. There is no other explanation to have interviewed 9 and counting.

The fact that we play in "New York" means very little. This isn't MLB or NBA where the big markets dominate. Most teams have large fan bases and have built new stadiums, or will be in the future. We don't have a competitive advantage until we start winning on the field and not the famous Rex Ryan press conferences. There's no such thing as saying "It's New York, we have our pick of the litter."

Polian is 145 years old. Heckert was scurred of the cap situation.

Their are many other explanations you just choose to ignore them and assume something that makes no sense instead.

Instead of saying what I ignore tell us what all those other reasons could be.

The fact we play in NY means everything though when it comes to the media. This isn't Minnesota where maybe 3 people cover the team on a regular basis, here there are 3 from each publication.
