Geno Smith is overrated. You saw what he did in the bowl game in the SNOW!!!! He even turned down his invite to the Senior Bowl! I guess he doesn't want his stock to drop! I would pass on this guy!
Looks like other junior OTs are taking advantage of Lewan returning and likely Matthews returning... from gbnreport: Colorado junior LT David Bakhtiari declared LSU junior OT Chris Faulk declared
Some teams are going to reach for OT's, and if there's going to be any up down movement in the first round for many teams this year I think it will be teams positioning themselves for the couple of 1st round CB's...but then again, there are always teams that will trade up for no apparent reason, I mean last year it was what the Browns that traded up with the team in front of them and gave up a couple picks becasue they got bluffed?
Dri Archer will stay at school for his senior season according to his twitter. https://twitter.com/dri_archer1/status/289798916130607104 And the 2014 draft gets even more talent.
For them, I wouldnt ever worry about it. TJ Yeldon is good, Dee Hart will be off his redshirt, they got one of the best running backs in the country coming in.
Great Idea, I made a separate thread: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=76510 I hope this makes things easier for all, especially when we start our Mock draft in a few weeks.
where do you guys think Lacy will go in the draft? Any chance he lasts to our 3rd round pick? Last thing I saw projected him in the 2nd-3rd round
Bengals have said they want a more electrifying runner... Bernard, Ellington, Randle and Jamison fit that bill I would say.
Like I said, when everything clears (combine), I havent rated players in a whlile. IMO, Lacy will be on the cusp of a 1st rd pick.
I'm really looking forward to the combines personally, there are several players I expect will fall because they don't impress at the combine despite what they do on the field, those are the value players I'd look very hard at in the 2nd round and later. There will be some players that rise substantially at the combine despite what they've done on the field and those I steer away from, or even maybe use as bait to trade down off of.
looking at this years draft in terms of offensive tackles I think there are probably only 3 that are worth taking in the first 20 picks. Joeckel who will be a top 5 pick, Fisher and Lane and then there's a drop off to the next tier, actually I'd call Joeckel the only first tier OT in the draft followed by the 1.5 tier of Fisher and Lane. then there's the next teir which contains a few other OT's. What I'm thinking is going to happen is that at least one of Fisher or Lane will wind up going in the top 10 because the position is so weak on a number of teams at LT they'll reach rather than wind up on the 2nd or 3rd tier of LT's. It would not surprise me to see all three of them gone by pick 12. After that there's a drop off not so much in ceiling but in being more bust prone or more suited to the right tackle position. I can see some movement up or down for 3-4 specific players in the top 10 and 3 player positions in the first round OT, CB and TE, though the TE movement probably won't be till the bottom 1/3 of the draft. Just my opinion as things look right now.
