the hard target search is well underway. The radius is extremely long, but we are not going to leave any stone unturned. Just be patient.
when was it needed most? he is discussing the season's failures when it is needed -- after the season. you have no fucking idea whether he said this or not in team meetings during the season which is when and where it was needed, but it certainly had no place being said to the media during the season. this is just an completely asinine statement that is the result of the fan's idea that they actually are deserving to be part of the entire process of the football team and privy to every bit of information that they discuss. no you aren't, and you somehow believe that because it wasn't said to the media -- and thus you -- it wasn't said within the team.
If Westhoff wants to talk about accountability for 2012, he should start with his special teams, which were atrocious.
He is telling it exactly like it was: 1) The team was top heavy with salaries and cost them in depth. 2) The team traded for Tebow and didn't use his him. 3) Sanchez has limitations and the offense was not built around his skill set. 4) The defense had trouble getting off the field. At least someone is saying it straight.
heavens to betsy... the Jets haven't rushed in knee jerk style and signed a new GM or coordinators yet... the sky is falling.... the sky is falling... the season ended about a frigging week ago, free agency doesn't start until February and the Draft is more than 90 days away.. we are doomed!!!!
Bang on. The most shocking thing about all this (in my opinion) is Westhoff's claim that there was no Tebow package ever - not even during the secret practice sessions. We were all sold a total crock and they also wasted a year of Tebow's career, which I actually think is a shame. This blows up all the talk about the team backtracking on their ideas for Tebow because he looked so bad in practice. This team was an unbelievable mess this year.
Listen to the actual interview. http://wqam.com/ Not at all inflammatory. Just stating it is he saw it.
Correct, if we ask enough people we will find somebody who will agree to all the conditions and terms Rex sets forth.
Watch his end of season press conference, he takes full accountability. Westhoff seems to be about as straight a shooter as you'll find. He tells it how it is and doesn't sugar coat things. Nothing wrong with that, but don't expect to ever hear "coach speak" coming from his mouth.
I've met Westhoff and talked with him, if only briefly. But I came away with a sense that he's brutally honest and calls it like he sees it. I agree with just about everything he said except his assessment of Sanchez. As far as ripping him for STs this year, he's only as good as his personnel. We've had GREAT STs under Westfhoff, so I don't let a couple of seasons ruin an otherwise stellar career. Wish him the best.
Yeah, I found this shocking as well. My opinion is, we messed up Tebow's career but good. I can't believe we brought him in here and didn't even try to find out what he could bring. Was it all to sell PSLs and UD tickets?
even if he never said anything about his special teams, the criticism of what he said based on that has zero merit whatsoever. his critique of the rest of the team has merit regardless of whether he says anything or not about the Special Teams, but the fans want to somehow claim that by not doing so somehow negates everything else. that is just ridiculous.
Westoff is out of his mind. Anyone who blames defense for Jets' problem in 2012 is off his rocker. The defense and special teams gave Mark and his offense the ball excellent field position inside the 30? Tennessee game for potential game winner...and what happened? O and Mark f'ed up in the next play. NOw we don't have the greatest D in the world, but a respectable one and anyone who saw the games know which side of the ball is the issue. Good riddance Westoff.
Westoff is one of the, if not the best coach the Jets has ever had. All of his points are right on the money.
Tebow was brought here for one reason only. To be a sideshow. The worse part about it, is that it looked more like a minstrel show, and that is truly, truly sad. A man's character was used to raise money for the Jets organization without concern for who he is. That's the part I have the most trouble with.
